Predictably, the stepfather's attorney(s) are pulling the "Of course she's blaming it all on him. What do you expect?" line, but the thing is, she ISN'T putting all the blame on him. She has admitted to taking part in it. So I tend to think her version is quite believable at this point.
BTW, one of his attorneys is Wendell Odom, who represented Andrea Yates. He's not the most expensive Houston lawyer, but his fees aren't bargain basement. So either the stepfather's family has the money to pay him....or is putting up something as collateral, the family already had a relationship with him, or he's taking it because it's a high profile case. Too early to say which.
