Baby gift idea...opinions please

The triplets are now 4 months old, so by the winter, they'll be getting out more. I just think those would be better than getting 3 babies into snow suits.

I didnt have triplets but I know that at 6 months my son was too big to use that snugli. We had to buy him a flece snowsuit to use. He loved it and he was much warmer anyway. I wouldnt get any blankets or things of that nature as I am sure she has many more than she needs.
I am sure that diapers and wipes would be a blessing as she is going through so many. But if you want something that is a keepsake why not get them a reading library. $100 can go a long way with books. You could even get books for the next several years not just board books.

As a mother of multiples :love1: I can tell you that "stuff" piles up pretty fast  . I stayed with the basics and that was it, because everything took up so much room (and I lived in a very small place :crowded: ). The snugli thing is cute but she may have cold weather things for the babies already :cold: . Anyway, I like the gift card suggestions (she can buy diapers or anything else that she needs), it will be well appreciated!! :thanks:

How about one share of Disney stock each? They wouldn't grow out of it and the certificates are so pretty.

As a mom to an almost 15 month old (who is still in diapers) I would definitely give diapers! I wish more people had given me diapers as gifts personally. I loved the personal things too but honestly the things I loved the most were the practical (aka expensive!) things like diapers, formula, and wetwipes! Money and giftcards were also appreciated. JMO.

ETA: Just realized you don't live in the same town. In that case I would definitely go with giftcards or money. And the Snugli was a waste of money for us! We never even used it. Dd was also long as an infant and outgrew her infant seat by 6 months due to that (although in weight she didn't outgrow it until this month!).

Here, more and more people are asking diapers as "gift" and I refuse to buy them that as a gift.

Everytime, this have been people that made good money (so, they can afford their diapers themselves). It's not up to me to provide basic care for their kids. I want to give a gift. I mean, it's like giving trash can liners as a gift to a wedding!

What I always get now, are personalized towels. I'm lucky to have an embroidery machine myself, but it's also something you can have done in a shop. I buy some towels/ wash cloths and embroider some design (usually a Disney-design, and yes, I do have a license to do that!) and the child's name (and sometimes birth date) on it. You always need towels, and like that, the child will later on know it's his/ hers!

The snugglie was great until my daughter was about 4-6 months old and went int othe other type car seat, then it was useless. Personally I LOVED when people bought me diapers! If someone asks for diapers as a gift that is what I would get them.

as a mother of twins, I personally would have loved diapers! I had a friend on a twins board that didn't need to buy diapers for the entire first year because friends and family had all sent them...everyone on that board was wildly jealous. lol.

My 2nd thought (after the meal-prep place) was a GC for a prof. photographer, but I didn't know how far my $100 would go, and I didn't want to give them a gift that would "cost them money", plus, since we don't live in that area, I would have no clue on a good photographer.

The triplets are now 4 months old, so by the winter, they'll be getting out more. I just think those would be better than getting 3 babies into snow suits.

I had one of those for my last 2 babies,, and they are wonderful - however...my babies were big and no longer in infant carriers at 4 months. i'm sure triplets would be smaller - and probably a little premature, but i still don't think they will be in a carrier for than 1 season. Also - i can't imaging the logistics of taking three carriers anywhere- I'm thinking she would probably need to transport them into a triple stroller to go anywhere.

I don't have multiples, but I do have few back to back...and the infant 'stuff' piles up so fast and there is no where to put it. In under 12 months you are cleaning out the babies rooms, throwing stuff into bags to be given away and saying to yourself "there was $30 - used it once...there was $60, used it twice, someone spent $50 of their hard-earned money on that, sat on a shelf".

I would have diapers shipped (or do a gift card - although it seems more of a gift if you don't have to go get it yourself) include a nice handwritten note or letter (that is what will last, can go in their baby book). Maybe add a small trinket for each like if they are girls personalized velcro hair bows (I've seen those on ebay) OR boys a personalized pic frame (that will grow with them) - I just got rid of a whole box of frames that had little pink and blue teddy bears and things....they look too babyish once the baby turns 1 or 2. I understand that giving diapers doesn't seem like much of a gift, and you wantto give something that lasts - but how many infant things are still used in a year anyway?

I would go with diapers too. They are expensive, especially for 3 babies! I also liked the suggestion of gift cards that way your neice can buy what she needs.

If she doesn't need "things", how about a Savings Bond for each child. I believe they start at around $25.

I agree with the gift card. If you want to go with a "gift" give clothing. Don't give things like silver cups, etc. It is just one more thing to take care of when you really don't have time to do much of anything but baby care.

When the twins were born our oldest was still in diapers. We were spending over $50/week on diapers at that time and that was many years ago. If she is using formula, that is well over $50/week too. While they aren't fun gifts, they are most likely the most appreciated gifts she will get.

Help the poor mom out...get her diapers...I guarantee she will always remember that you were the one who got her what she needed, when everyone else gave her crap to collect dust and take up precious space.

JMHO, YMMV

Even though this isn't what you want to hear, I say Diapers (or a gift card to get them) is the best thing.

As a mother of a 4 month old, it would be greatly appreciated. Our son will be grown out of his infant car seat in the next month or so, so I think the Snugli would be useless by winter. And trust me, he doesn't need anymore knickknacks, clothes or blankets.

My husband and I make fairly good money, and between daycare, diapers, baby food, and formula, our son runs us about $700-$800 a month. I can't even imagine the costs with having triplets!!! I would love for someone to give me diapers or formula at this point...it would be so appreciated! I don't know, I guess I just think it is terrible that you won't give the poor niece what she really wants and needs (and it is completely practical). Kind of negates the point of giving a gift if the person doesn't want/need it.

Diapers are great gift...or a gift card instead to somewhere practical for her.

as to the cute stuff (towels etc) they are pretty but not as appreciated as the needed stuff by the person you are giving them to.

I got a ton of wee little socks for my son that were too small on day one.

My fave gift of all was a night shirt for him with little mickeys(no legs to deal with at nighttime).

I can't tell you how many "cute" expensive clothes we got for him that we never used as they were the wrong size in the wrong season and so just stayed in a box or hanger.

With multiples you'd go through them at a fantastic rate.

As to the too every day vs gift arguement..don't people get gifts like towels and sheets for everyday at a wedding shower? A gift should be to express your pleasure at the wonderful blessings they have received...a personal note saying your sure happy she's been so blessed will cover off the for posterity part..I kept every card/note etc long long after the onesies and towels were given away.
