This is the first time we are travelling with my DS. Can you take baby food with you into the US? If not is it easy to buy over there. Any help would be great.

You could take the dry mixes to get you started but it's easy to buy. They have designated baby stations at the parks that have everything you need including nursing chairs. We took our DS when he was 6 months and the only problem we had was heating up of our own food off of the parks. X

There are restrictions - no products with meat. We took DD at 9 months and all we took was her cereal for breakfast.

We bought a few bits in the supermarket but 90% of the time fed her from our plates or bought a child's meal for her.

We never really did baby food as I wanted her to have the same as us so might not be the best to go by.

thanks for the help. I will take his cereal and then just try and buy jars. He will be 7months while we are there so wasn't sure what he would be like with food with most of it been chips etc.

Are you staying on-site? How long are you going for?

When we travelled with our then 9 month old we took jars, they confiscated everything with beef in but let us keep the rest. I would recommend taking some with you. Disney has VERY limited variety. When we ran out of what we had bought, the only option was chicken and veg - Everyday for a week!

They also dont have the same brands, so if your DS is particularly fussy I would be even more inclined to take some with you.

Even off site unless you visit a supermarket (walmart etc) then they dont have many. And baby stuff is th US seems to be way more expensive than the UK - we once ran out of formula milk during our trip due to my own milk drying up just a week into a 4 week holiday, and its costs about 3 times as much as UK milk.

Its a good job we also combined jars with baby led weaning and she ate "real" food. :rotfl:

Our daughter also never bought into the whole water thing and has only ever drunk juice (dilutable) - Americans just dont drink this clearly as it is almost impossible to buy, unless you want to pay $6.00 for something which costs 50p in the UK. We always take this with us as there is only so much coke you can consume without climbing the walls.

Yer we are staying in The Boardwalk and Coronado Springs. Going for 2 weeks but we have a 4 day Cruise in between. Our Son also wont have water yet but not tried juice.

don't want to sound rude but honestly most of the food is not chips! You have loads of choice so don't worry.:)

Totally agree! DD didn't eat chips at all on her first trip. We gave her things like mac and cheese, chicken, veg, mash, rice, pasta, etc

At 7mths solids won't be the main part of his diet. If he is not breastfed make sure to take formula as it is different in the US apparently - DD was totally breastfed so I can't confirm first hand.

The supermarkets have a good selection of baby foods and finger snack foods.

Hello, DD was 9 months when we went, we did baby led weaning so never did purees or jars just real food (much quicker and easier) anyway, with regards to formula (if he has that) you need to declare it and any other baby foods on the white customs form, they will ask you about it and when satisfied wave you through. If he does have formula then take your own as they have totally different brands in the USA. Walmart stocks all the Pampers/swimm nappies/wipes we have here and not expensive so don't bother filling your suitcase with those before you go.

i might try and put him on solids before we go just will be harder as we only have a sit down meal for tea and then something cheaper for lunch to spread the cost. I will have a look and see what they have i was just wondering as we go in 7 weeks so the holiday will be here before we know it

We only do one sit down meal a day and found things at counter service restaurants that DD could eat - you just have to be inventive and look a little harder at the CS menus!

At CHH they do steamed broccoli now which makes great finger food. We have had the fish there and took the batter off some to give DD little bits. Cosmic rays do a half chicken and mash - both great for babies.

Sunshine seasons in the Land does loads of choices that are suitable.

Sandwiches from Staring Rolls at DHS

Never stay at AK long enough to need lunch.

Resorts have lots of choices at food courts you can choose.

Hadn't even thought that much about this!
My next trip is SURE gonna be different to any that have gone before :lmao:

:goodvibes

Just to add remember under 3's eat free at buffets - there tends to be plenty of fruit and veg on there that would be suitable for a baby.

I did notice when we were in target that they had a massive selection of those Ella's kitchen pouches that seem popular for babies now.

ok it will probably be straight forward when we get there I was just a little worried of the choice as I haven't been to WDW for 8 years. We have booked T-Rex and Planet Hollywood so just hoping there alright

Don't forget, restaurants in America are much more accommodating that in the UK, i.e if you wanted a little plain steamed veg for the baby or some mashed potato or fruit or whatever, I bet you could ask and they would provide it - as long as it is something they sell, I am sure they could do it as a side item for the baby.

do the jars have to go in your hand luggage or can they go in your suitcase. I have e-mailed Virgin but they haven't got back to me
