I have a random question....DD is 7 months and we have been feeding her solids for about a month and a half. We have only been using Earth's Best organic. I want to try giving her peaches but they don't make just peaches....it's always mixed with other things. I tried looking at other organic brands and none make just organic peaches. DD has been having some issues with constipation so I thought peaches would be good for her and that is another reason I want to avoid blends like peaches and bananas. Anyone ever find just organic peaches?? DH is planning to just makes some himself if we can't find them in a jar.

I would just make your own. I made most of my dd food when she started solids not because of any great desire to avoid prepared food (they can be very useful at times) but purely because it was easier, and I knew what was in it. I would make a batch of something and then just freeze it in an ice cube tray.
If you are having trouble with constipation then prunes are a great solution. The ones from the dried fruit packets are perfect. You don't need much as it is extremely effective.

My DD is 3.5 yo old now, so I'm not sure if this stuff is still around, but I remember that the gerber organic line had plain peaches. I preferred the Earth's Best baby food for jarred baby foods, but there were a few things like the peaches that I bought from the gerber organic line.

If you can find organic peaches I would make it yourself! I haven't found any by Earth's Best either. But their pears work GREAT for constipation!

Thanks everyone. It's so wierd that they don't make just peaches. Wonder why? DH went to Whole Foods last night and they didn't have any organic peaches so we have to hold off on making them I guess. Wrong time of year for peaches. Baybemama - you're right, the peas do work well...better than the prunes!

kpm -- I went to a baby food workshop at the beginning of the month and the nutritionist mentioned that you can make baby food out of canned fruit as long as it's packed in juice. So, if you can find canned organic peaches, then you're not out of luck! Just open the can and run those babies through the food mill! Also, she said a trick to getting them a little thicker is to mix some dry cereal in with it.

HTH!

Wow, thank you so much!! I had no idea you could use canned fruit. Whole Foods is sure to have some canned organic peaches so I will be heading there tomorrow. Thanks again :)

I made all my baby food, and would use organic canned fruit or frozen if fresh wasn't available. Frozen organic veggies were great as well.
I Loved making my own stuff..i know what is in it and it tasted SO good!!!

I should have mentioned this in my earlier post, but if you are interested in organic foods and making your own baby food, I would highly recommend the book "Super Baby Food". A lot of what the book says is intuitive, but there were some good tips in it.
