Baby Feeding Question

My wife wanted me to post this...
Is there a place in the park where a mother can go breast feed a baby that is private. I know some stores offer "sitting areas", but does Disney have anything like this???

Each park has Baby Care Centers. Magic Kingdom and Epcot each have a room with several rocking chairs and you will not be alone, it was very nice. MGM has little individual rooms, like a dressing room almost for BF'ing. I did not use the one in AK so no help there. They also have changing areas. MK & Epc also have a tv area that has Disney movies, of course, playing if you have an older child. DD5 enjoyed this.

We went last Sept. with DS8, DD5 & DD3 mo. I am not one to nurse in public but did manage to in some places. I bought a nursing cover @ Target. I rode all the rides that did not have a height restriction. DH would ask for the back row on rides like Small World, Pirates of the Carib, Great Movie Ride, can't think of them all. I would nurse DD on the back row and during some of the shows. Nobody paid any attention except one lady commented on my nursing cover and wanted one. We did great. Have a great trip.

We went when DD was 6 months and she fed on every ride it seemed. Esp the dark ones. No problem and no one ever knew anyway.

I agree with the PP. I myself never have used the baby stations. But, I fed him on several rides with no problem. If she is comfortable feeding in public, I will tell you that no one pays any attention to a mother nursing her child!

There are definately baby stations, but there are also tons of locations that are out of the way if the baby station is not nearby. I nursed on a trip with my 6 month old and again when she was 12 months. I don't mind public nursing- brought a lightweight blanket, but didn't even use it much.
One great ride to nurse on is Spaceship Earth at EPCOT and another is the Tomorrowland Transit Authority in MK. They are both long rides and you can sit without people really seeing you- Spaceship earth is mostly dark, so it works really well.
There are a lot benches in out of the way places also if you keep your eyes out.

I nursed all over WDW with 2 dds on several trips (and one upcoming we will be still nursing). The baby care centers are nice (except the one in MGM; I didn't like feeling hidden behind a curtain) if you are nearby, but there are lots of hidden places to sit and nurse. We rode the Tomorrowland Transit Authority 3 times in a row. When we got done with the first ride, the CM saw what I was doing and told us to get comfy and stay as long as we liked. :thumbsup2 :goodvibes

The baby care centers are GREAT, everything from low lighting, comfortable seating, and QUIET(most of the times)! Since there is only 1 at each park, there are a bunch of littte spots to it and nurse your little one.

I nursed my DD on our last three trips. If I can find a quiet place, I'll nurse discretly in public, but I preferred nursing in the Baby Care Centers because they were quiet and cool. Well, with the exception of the MGM Baby Care Center. That one is very, very loud. As Bird-Mom mentioned, you are only seperated from the rest of the center by a curtain. We had a couple of bad experiences there when I was trying to nurse my DD to sleep on our last two trips when she was a little older.

Like the pp have indicated, your wife should know that WDW is very nursing friendly, and should feel comfortable nursing anywhere on property. That said, the babycare center in MK is very nice, and the nursing room is communal, meaning mom can socialize with other nursing moms. It was my favorite place to take a rest.

As a long time nursing mother, I'm so happy to see a thread dealing with nursing your children. I understand when people don't feel comfortable nursing in public, but keep in mind that more new mothers might make the decision to nurse their babies if they saw more people out and about nursing. It's a fairly hidden practice in this country, which is a shame.

My DS will be 15 months lod when we go in May and he will still be nursing. I'm comfortable nursing in public if necessary, but if it is hot outside, I'll be looking for some A/C! I hadn't thought of Spaceship Earth or TTA -- good ideas! Any other recommended nursing spots?

How do you think your DS will do with distractions while nursing at this age? When DD was 14 months (and 18 months), I had a horrible time trying to nurse her during shows, rides, etc. She wanted to check everything out! Even though I was comfortable with nursing her in public at this point, I ended up nursing her mostly at the BCC because of the distraction factor.

On our last trip in January, we park hopped pretty much everyday. I had great luck nursing DD on the boat from MGM to Epcot. We usually moved over to Epcot after lunch when DD was getting ready for her nap. Since I hate the MGM Baby Care Center nursing rooms, we'd hop on the pretty empty and quiet boat and DD would nurse to sleep during the 20 minute boat ride. We'd slide her right into her stroller before reaching Epcot and would just wheel her off the boat!

I'm also so happy to see a post about nursing.?There are so many quiet places in WDW to nurse. If you need to get out of the heat the baby care stations are great, or just a nice bench in the shade works too. I have one of these to use when i'm out..its wonderful!http://www.bebeaulait.com/ Have fun....
