Baby carrier recommendations?

I wore DD in a wrap in Legoland in July when she was a week old, and I wasn't overly hot. At the age your ds is going to be (congratulations!), I would go with a ring sling. It's easy on/easy off. I loved my ring sling at that age. Now I'm usually an Ergo while we're out and a wrap at home (16 months).

I have an Ergo and it was great until he was 6-7 months. Then I switched to a Tula. They are way easier on the back, more ergonomic and much cuter too. I also wrap but wouldn't try it in the parks as a buckle carrier is much easier. The ring sling is also great but depends on the weight. Once he got over 15 lbs wearing him for more then 30 mins at a time was hard on my shoulder.

There is a Disney baby wears group on Facebook. Come join. Everyone there is super helpful and you can see pictures and examples.

I loved my ring sling and used it almost exclusively until he was 1year. I also used it several times this past trip at 22 months. I have some great nap photos.

For SSCs, Hubs uses the Boba4g and I use a LennyLamb. I'm petite, so a lot of SSCs don't work for me, particularly with back carries. These are the best for quick ups and long naps.

I also adore my fly tai (it's a mei tai) as it provides all the benefits of wrapping without the acrobatics. It's my go-to carriers for back carries - he naps great in it and it is awesome for sightseeing "big people" style.

We only brought a stroller to the parks 4 of our 8 days and wore exclusively on the others. Frog Togg chilly pad was a lifesaver since we has record heat for November.

I have a knock off ergo that I used with my youngest as a baby since its always been easier to strap her in and then deal with her brother who's 22 month older then her, i found it at Burlington coat factory for 15$ a few years ago, i think its an older model Infantino Union Ergonomic Carrier. I ended up using that more then the stroller we rented since she would actually fall asleep in it.

We just got back from Disney and did a lot of baby wearing while we were there. You can take the baby in the carrier on whatever ride you go on, provided there is no height restriction.

When our baby was born, we used the Ergo with the newborn insert a lot, but as he got bigger, the Ergo killed my back. We've used an Infantino Mei Tai A LOT, it's super cheap and really good for after the baby is a little bigger. We also just got a Lille Baby airflow and used that exclusively on our recent trip. It worked out well. Not too super hot, and it crosses in the back, which is better for my back and shoulders. It also has a lumbar support. I walked around everywhere with him in the carrier and it was great! so much better than the stroller. (our 10-month old doesn't nap in the stroller but took 60-90 minute naps on me or DW)

We also have a wrap, which is super comfortable, but I wouldn't take it to disney, too much fabric to deal with getting him in and out all the time.

Not sure where you live, but by us, there is a baby wearing specialty store that will do fittings of different carriers and wraps and do instructions. It was really helpful for us.

I used a ring sling and it worked great - every time. The first time I used it on a trip, the baby was 2 months old and it was May/June. I was hot, but the baby stayed cool. I used a ring sling made of a lightweight material, so I think my sweating actually helped cool baby! Baby wasn't hot but I was. I used a ring sling on other trips too - I had a real Maya Wrap as well, but the one I had was a heavier fabric, so better when it wasn't summer. I had babies stay in the sling almost the entire time at 2 months, 9 months, and 11 months old. I even had child a few months shy of 3 who refused the stroller and refused to walk - so he ended up in the sling. On one trip, I had a baby who did better sleeping in the stroller. I opened the sling and put it over the stroller to block out some of the sights and sounds. It can also double as a blanket if needed.

I'd definitely plan on a SSC over a wrap or ring sling for Disney. A wrap has a lot of fabric (hot) and takes more time to get in/out of & with a 7 month baby a ring sling might be too heavy for it. Disregard my too heavy comment if you make smaller kiddos! :) Tula is a great carrier as is Bamberoo. If you only plan on wearing the baby up until 18 month or so the Ergo is also a good choice. It has a much shorter body than many of the other SSC so it's NOT ideal for carrying a toddler.

I'd look for a baby wearing group in your area BEFORE you buy anything. Every group I've ever seen will let you try on the carriers they have so you can get a feel for what you like.

Am about to pop with DD#2 - we have used the Boba and Ergo. Both work the same way, but I feel like the Boba is a little lighter and smaller. At 7 months, you may be able to wear your baby on your back too, which is just easier overall. I have also tried the ring sling and moby wrap with DD#1, and we are sticking with the Ergo and Boba. The nice thing with the Boba is you can fold it down and wear it around your waist when it's not in use - it's a little warm but not too unlike a fanny pack. And congratulations!

Ring slings can hold heavier babies. I make huge babies and it wasn't an issue. (One baby was over 11lbs at birth). The ring sling I had said up to 35lbs, but you can usually do more IF you can handle more. Seeing how that child 35lbs and only 36" and only 1.5 years old, the weight was too concentrated for me and I needed to limit it with that child at that point. I tried with an older 35lb child and it was MUCH easier. 35lbs was my limit and I couldn't handle it for more than an hour at a time though. I could do up to 30 lbs for 8+ hours though. I'm petite and not amazingly strong or anything either. (I was no more than 100 lbs myself when I carried those higher weights, often a little less).

Our son (just found out today it's a boy!!) is due in March, and then we have our disney trip scheduled for october. I've been looking into baby carriers anyway and figured I want whichever kind I get to be good for use at disney too.

Just curious if anyone's got any recommendations? Light weight, breathable, and easy to put on and take off are my main concerns. I know a lot of people like wraps but they seem like a lot of fabric and...complicated?

We have a Beco Gemini, and love it. DD still isn't 35 lbs at 3 y/o, and I can still use it with her. We just used it when we took her to Disneyland earlier this month and wore her through the airport so we didn't have to drag a stroller. We've really liked the beco a lot!
