Our trip is coming up in less than 2 months  and my baby will be 7 months. Last night, I was trying to figure out what to bring and it hit me, where do I bathe her? I guess we can always stop at Walmart or Target and get a cheap tub, but, do we have any other options?

:)

In the tub? :confused3 Just lay her in the regular tub with just a small amount of water. Just don't leave her unattended while she is in it. ;) Then bathe her like you would in a baby tub.

How long are you going for? We went for a week and I only put my DD (17 months at time) in the bath once. Every morning, I would wipe her down with wipes and a washcloth and she was fine. She looked clean, didn't get any kind of skin irritation and no one said she smelled:lmao: Honestly though, I don't think babies that young need bathes on a daily basis. -Actually my ped told us to make sure we didn't bathe her every day with soap:confused3 Something about it drying out the skin too much. I don't know, but I really think you'll be fine with only bathing her maybe once in the actual bath tub- and yes that's a huge pain. It took two adults to do it when my DD was 4 months at DL.

Yep, that's what we did. I put a towel under her bottom so she didn't slip. I had the soap and dry towel right there next to me. I let her sit up and kept one arm around her back and under her arm pit and washed her with the other free hand. You could put her in the sink, too, the same way if she's small enough. Or just sponge bathe her. Or go swimming. :rotfl2:

umm... in the bathtub? Just put an inch or two of water in it and wash her up really quick. There's no need to go out and buy a baby tub when there's a perfectly good one in your room. :)

yeah, by 7 months they are very sturdy :) the tub will be fine. You can always put a towel on the bottom of the tub, and makes it a bit 'grabby' and not so slip.

You can also bathe them right in the sink... splashed up mirror, but even small sinks hold enough, to set their bottoms in.

Or, shower with them... that is what we do often.

We did that too. I had the benefit of 2 adults - me and dh. One of us held her in a sitting position (she could sit mostly unassisted, but wouldn't chance falling in a tub) and the other washed her. Oh and I also brought antibacterial wipes and totally cleaned down the tub before I did it.

I have a tub mat from Toys' R US that is somewhat cushy and non-slip. It's cute and has fish all over it. I use it at home, so I rolled it up and brought it with us to Disney. I stuck it right down on the hotel tub, so that way the kids wouldn't have to sit sirectly on the tub bottom (I'm a little paranoid, I wear my flip-flops in the tub while on vacation!) It worked out well.

If you really want to avoid using the tub, try the presoaped washclothes (I know Huggies makes some). DS3 was in a body cast last year (long story, although WDW related-guess where he broke it...) and we used those to bath him, I got mine at Walmart in the baby section. Just wet it, and bath, but I always had a bowl of water next to him to rewet and rinse as needed.

At that age I just showered with my daughter, just be really careful since they are slippery. After I was done cleaning her up I would hand her off to dad.

When the boys were little, I used an inflatable duck tub made by Munchkin. You can get them at Target, maybe Walmart, too. It's actually what we used at home too for a long time. They can sit, fall over, won't get hurt. I didn't like the idea of their bottoms in a hotel tub. It'll pack in a suitcase, then blow it up when you arrive, deflate to go home! :)

Actually, I'm wondering what to do now... since they're too big for it. I think I may just bring a can of scrubbing bubbles and wash it myself... Anyone have any better ideas?

I am the same way. DH could care less, but after living in the dorms I couldn't shower without them unless I was at home or a family/friends house.

If I am a little creeped out by the tub condition I just have DH sit in there holding DS while I do the washing and rinsing (thank you ice bucket). The sink is a good idea too but just give it a good scrub first. Take a package of Method Tub and Tile wipes with. They are safe and non-toxic and come in a very small package.

We bathed DS more than once on a 7 day trip because we went swimming a lot. We packed a sample of Johnson&Johnson baby body/shampoo and it was enough for the whole trip with leftovers. Don't worry, no need to take an extra tub.

They also sell inflatable baby bath tubs that won't take up too much room in your luggage. I used one when we took DD at 8 months old. I think I got mine at Target. It worked great and I felt better about having a safe place to bathe her.

An easy alternative is for Mom (or dad) to get in the shower and then have the other parent hand baby to the one in the shower. Wash & rinse the baby, hand them back to the dry parent who is waiting iwth a towel. Done.

I love this idea!! We are going in May and I know it will be hot, so, I want to bathe her often. Placing the towel on the tub seems like a great idea, but, I'm ordering the duck :woohoo: It also seems perfect to sit her in while I feed her. I already bought the Johnson's Baby presoaped washclothes, so, we are set.

Thanks for your help! :flower3:

i put my baby in the tub. i put my feet in the tub,, leaned baby against my legs to help support him the washed away. it was real easy.

good luck

Ditto. My dd was in the big tub from day one. At 7 months they are more than ready for a bathtub.

Hello all! This is my first post here.

If you really want to pick up something inexpensive then you can just run to Wal-Mart and get one of those sponge baby bath mats. They run around 5 -7 dollars. It keeps baby out of the water and supported enough plus absorbes the water to keep baby warm. I had a hard time using our baby tub so I opted to use the sponge bath mat. You can toss it when you leave, and you won't be out too much money.

We use the duck tub at home and I love it!

I just came back from a resort with a big shower but no bath tub. Handling my son in the shower is like trying to wrestle a wet seal, so I bought a baby pool from the dollar store. It's really tiny so it would fit right into the bathtub and you could toss it when you're done.

We will just bring DD in the shower with us or take a bath with her...no need for a special tub IMO. Our DD loves to shower with us, she thinks it is SO fun :)
