I have just seen on the "Circle of life 5k" applaction that baby backpacks are banned....so its no more races for me. :sad1:

Oh no! That is just awful!!!! I'm guessing it's a liability issue, but your dd had a helmet and that would prevent any severe injury if dh feell. That just stinks!!!

I am sorry that you are facing this. WISHing that you find a solution with other events at least.

I would guess it is a liability issue also. These races are all insured and sometimes the organizers agree to certain bans to keep the underwriting costs down. Have you thought about a jogging stroller? I have never used either but I imagine you would be able to run a bit better pushing a stroller than carrying a child on your back. Plus, those are less likely to be banned.

Jut a thought.

I think they are also not allowed at Disney races.

And I understand why having been hit by a few of them!

That's a shame!!! Maybe one of those front carriers... or could you possible put her with you?? Not sure how you could work that out, But maybe if you wrote to them and saying you would not have them be responsible for anything that may happen. Also, some of the "Family" fun runs are more flexible and would allow strollers or carriers.

All strollers and front or back carriers are banned.
We have sent an email and will let you know the outcome.

Who did you e-mail? I would like to send them an e-mail asking why they allowed a woman to run the half or full in January (I'll have to look to confirm which one), and also there was a jogging stroller in the Minnie 5k this year.

IMO if they are going to ban strollers, shouldn't they enforce it? :confused3 I can't imagine having a stroller on a marathon course. I think someone could easily get hurt.

Just my opinion.

The jogging stroller was in the Lost and Found pictures for the full (AK was in the background). I got really annoyed about that- I'd like to take my baby in the stroller too (ok, not for a full), but I didn't because of the rules.

We were talking about that woman on the morning of the Minnie. Angie said that sometimes the charity runners (or maybe coaches?) will push one of the kids supported by that charity for a couple of miles- which is great with me. From the pictures though, I thought this was someone pushing their own toddler.

Syko- I hope you get something worked out with the backpack. I thought your daughter looked totally safe and happy. I've been getting frustrated with the races because the age limits keep going up. Emma could do the ToT 6.5k at 7, but they eliminated the 6.5k. The Minnie age limit was 11 and now it's gone- the big races are all 14. (I have no idea if Emma would have been ready to tackle a 15k at 11 or not, but I'm mad it's gone!)

It was during the full. I passed her in EPCOT going through the World Showcase. There was a man there waiting for her to pass the stroller off, but she told him she wanted to go ahead and finish with the stroller. She wasn't pushing a child with a disability (at least not a visible one), nor was she wearing the gear of someone with a fundraiser. It appeared she was pushing her own child. There were ALOT of strollers at the AK 5k also. Though, most of those were children with A-T, though again, there were a couple that weren't.

I just signed up for the princess 5K and it has a separate catagory for doing it with a stroller. It just said we would have to start at the back of the pack. I hope they won't change the policy.
