Hi,

how do you get the milkbottles for a 6 month old baby *cooked* at the ASM?

I ran really hot water in the bathroom sink. Took some time, so plan ahead.
I have also seen plug in warmers at Babies R Us.

Hi,

thanks, maybe you got me wrong cause i do ot know the exact english words :cool1:
I mean after using the bottles I have to sterilize them..... unusally by *boiling* them at a pot.
You know what I mean?

I brought a small bottle of dish soap, couple of dishtowels and the scrubber thing that is made specifically for cleaning bottles and washed them in real hot water at the bathroom sink.

If you clean them right away using hottest water and dish soap, I would think they'll be clean enough. You could go down to the food court and microwave a big styrofoam cup of water to boiling and do it that way if you want.

Don't try microwaving a styrofoam cup.......you'll end up with a big puddle of melted foam and a really wet microwave.

When we traveled with a baby who was still on bottles we bought the premade nursette bottles. They were a little pricier than the formula mix we usually bought, but it elimintated the need to wash bottles. We just popped a nipple on top, they were ready, then we threw out the bottle.
Good luck.

You can tell how often I sterilized bottles!!! Or reheat coffee!!

I didn't sterilize bottles when I was at WDW. For my first baby I sterilized bottles for a month or so but the pediatrician said I didn't have to unless I had well water. WDW doesn't have well water, so I wouldn't be concerned about any type of issues that would require you to sterilize bottles.

I also brought a small bottle of dish soap and washed the bottles in hot water in the bathroom sink. We did just fine. If you're not comfortable with not sterilizing your bottles, you can stop at a grocery store and buy premixed individual use bottles, but be warned that they are expensive!

I'm glad to know there's someone else who didn't sterilize. Was starting to think I was part of the "Bad Mommy Club" :earseek:

I used a micro steamer bag to sterilize my bottles and binkys. You can get them where you buy Medella Nursing supplies. A box of 5 is about 8-10.00 (?) but each bag is reuseable 20x You put the bottles in, add water and pop in the microwave at the food court for 3 min. I got some strange looks, one guy thought it was popcorn that was not popping.
Have a fun trip!

What about a starter set of Playtex bottles with drop in liners? That way you don't have to sterilize just wash the outside part. You can buy those at any local mass retailer (Wal-Mart or Target).

Also didn't steralize bottles after the first month or so...lol! Just washed in really hot water with soap.

If you don't want to use Playtex bottles......I was one of the moms that never liked them. It's not a real cheap solution, but Toys R Us and Babies R Us used to carry a sterilizer that ran about $40. You basically put the clean bottles and nipples in it, added a certain amount of water and plugged it in. Since my youngest is 10, I'm not sure if it's still on the market. I absolutely loved it for tips. I hope it's still out there as that would be a perfect solution.
