Does anyone know anything about the Baby Alive Doll that eats and poops? Is it worth the money? DGD, 8, is asking for Baby Alive for Christmas. Seems she is going to be expensive to play with when you consider buying diapers and food.

I had a Baby Alive doll when I was about 7 or 8 (in 1975-ish!) I LOVED her (her name was Carrie  ), my DG got her for me. I do remember being dissappointed though because once her 'food' was all gone that came with her, I never was able to feed her again...only bottles. She also used big 'D' size batteries that never seemed to be replaced, so she didn't 'eat' after awhile anyway. I recall her always being bare bottomed, so she probably only came with a few disposable diapers that promptly got tossed out. I'm not sure what happened when I gave her a bottle after the diapers were gone...maybe a towel.:confused3 I guess my point is, be sure to get plenty of extra food, diapers and batteries.:lmao: Make sure the 'momma' knows that BA doll needs a bottle after her food to wash the ahem 'poop-chute' out or she will mold.;)

We got one for my daughter in June for her birthday and in less than 2 hours the babies painted lips were wearing off and she hadn't even been played with that much. Plus her face is impossible to keep clean since its not made of regular plastic but feels more like real skin. I am VERY disappointed with the doll and even wrote to the company though I never heard a word back.

My four year old received her last year for Christmas and loves her, however, I can't stand the doll. Messy, have to keep cleaning her up, needs more supplies...I would say don't do it, but my daughter is wishing for the other baby alive versions out now...

I clean ours out with a turkey baster!:lmao:
I fill it with water and some soap and spray it in its mouth and it flushes all the junk out really well.

I have 2 of these dolls at my house and they enjoy them. they are ages 4 and 8 . they probably play with them 1-2 hours at a time on the weekends when we have more time for that kinda mess.

dd received one last year from the hasbro deal that is going on now. she loves hers. Granted she wears target brand diapers but dd doesnt care. I do buy the food for her since I heard people having issues with not using the baby alive food. The lip color did wear off but that is really the only complaint I would have with her..

DD got her for Christmas last year. She loves her! The poop is gross; it looks real. She really likes feeding her, but we've put a serious limit on that because of having to change the diaper. DD came up with the idea of putting a folded up paper towel in the diaper to absorb the mess so that she can make the diapers last longer.

This was our experience too. Painted lips wore off, face is hard to clean - the doll is high maintenance. We've had ours for nearly a year and she's not played with anymore. My DD's grew tired of how much effort was required to play with her...cleaning her up, flushing out the innards, etc. It's a shame because it was a very pricey doll.

anybody know if the pampers swaddlers for preemies will work on these dolls?

Yes they do-I bought the cheap store-brand preemie diapers and they worked just fine :thumbsup2

As far as the doll, I got my then 4 yr old DD one for her bday last fall... within 1 month, it stopped functioning. I'm not sure if water somehow got into the battery chamber or what (not impossible as it's quite messy :rolleyes1 esp. when you're changing the diaper). I wrote to Hasbro via email and got a response about 2 weeks later. They sent me a shipping label and had me send them the doll at their expense. About a month later, I was suprised to see a brand new Baby Alive doll arrive via UPS! Yay for Hasbro! The unfortunate thing is that about 2 months after getting the new doll and barely using it, she too is not working properly anymore either :sad2:

Same DD just got the new baby alive doll this year for her bday-the newborn one that only wets :thumbsup2 I like this one better... no poop to deal with and no crud to get left in her insides :thumbsup2

thats the one I bought! the wets and giggles! I am not dealing with the colored "poop". Water I can deal with!
thanks for the info on the diapers! I will definatly check out Target or walmarts store brand before I shell out the money on the Baby Alive brand!!:cool1:

It's great to get tips on this doll, like flushing it out. :)

My DD wants one for Christmas and I ordered the Hasbro deal and now I need to order the extra food and diapers. I thought is was a pricey doll and she's only getting 2 other things for Christmas. She wants a car racing set :confused3 and a Leapster from Santa.

FYI the coupon code that was SUPPOSED to expire last night at midnight..WELL it's STILL working... I just placed an order for diapers and stuff for BA!:thumbsup2

LOL! My DD wants a car racing set for Christmas too. Believe it or not, I was just wandering through Target and I happened across a Polly Pocket "Race to the Mall" race car set! I picked it up for my DD. I would have happily gotten her a Matchbox or Hot Wheels set, but she LOVES Polly, so this will be perfect! It was $35 I think. Since I just bought it, I'm sure it will go on sale soon! LOL!! :rotfl:
