My family and I are planning our first trip to Disney for 4/05. Our youngest will be 11 mths old (the others are 8,5,&2) My question is which rides are ok for babies? Should we put him in a pack (front or back) or just hold him on rides? As I said it's our first time and I want everyone to have as much fun as possible.
Thanks for any info. :earboy2:

I recommend checking out the Disney website. Any rides w/out height requirement will be okay for baby. Those are rides where you could just hold them in your lap.

Have fun!

We took our 11-month old granddaughter the first week in Decmeber and she rode on everything that didn't have a height restriction. She like all the rides and the only things that she didn't like were the fireworks and Tough to Be a Bug. (We got off to a bad start there when DD put the glasses on her! She knew better but it made a great photo!) She especially liked Buzz, Pooh, Peter Pan, and Rio del Tiempo, and fell asleep in Pirates.

Our son was 11 months old when we went last February, and we took him on the tame rides without height requirements. He sat on our laps most of the time. Even on the rides with the pull-down bar, sitting on our laps wasn't a problem.

Rides that we didn't take him on: Teacups and the Race Cars. Almost everything else in the MK was fine.

Mickey's Philharmagic is a little loud, and the glasses are hard to hold on a baby's face, so you may end up holding your son close to your body and covering his ears (or sit it out). We took our son in last year, and he ended up sleeping through it. He was fine with it by the time he was 19 months (though we still needed to hold his glasses on).

We took our now 3yo when she was 6 m. She went on all rides with out height restrictions (I nursed her through the Haunted Mansion, with a blanket over her head). She was a strong baby, good head control and mobile. :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc Do what make you comfortable, ask the Cm's and don't forget the Babyswap

Our first trip with our daughter was Oct. 2003 (we also went Oct. 2004), and she was 9 months old.

We chose Disney primarily because we were still nursing and the Baby Centers were very appealing to us.

At this young age, they have no conception of scary, so Pirates, Haunted Mansion, etc. is just fine. Basically anything that doesn't shake them up. At nine months, my daughter was fine on the boatride in Norway, but at 20 months she was starting to get a little "spooked" about things. However, also at 20 months she fell asleep on the Haunted Mansion...so go figure!

I would guess your 11 month old will love the flowers, ducks, train in Germany, and all the music/dance performances. You'll learn to see Disney from 2 feet above the ground, and it will be a new and delightful experience!

I am glad I found this thread, b/c I was just about to ask the same thing. Dh and I are expecting our 1st child on May 1, and want to take her to WDW around May or June of 2006, but we weren't sure how much she could actually do while there. Now that I know there is a lot that we can take her on, we are definitely looking forward to it! :D

while at disney they have a swap or it might be universal, sorry i really cannot remember but it is a room and you all stay in line together, one rides and the other waits with the baby then you go on, it think it's universal the more i think of it but it is a good idea

We will be taking our 9 1/2 month old in March. I can't wait to see how she reacts to it all :)

Yeah, I know Universal has a baby swap. I am not a 100% sure about Disney. I think they do too, but could be wrong. It is a good idea for some of the rides, but I also like the fact that we can bring the baby on a good bit of them with us as well. Baby swap is a good idea for rides like Splash Mtn. and things that you wouldn't take a baby on anyway. I am glad that the parks recognize those with infants and will accomodate them as well as those without infants.

1. Yes WDW has child swap. Just let the CM know when you are in line for the ride.
2. We used our Baby Bjorn for holding our then 11mo old in lines. You can take strollers but then you have to park them to wait in line) She was not walking (still isn't!!) & would have been too heavy to hold her & she is too squirmy so the bjorn was great. We also kept her in the bjorn while we were on a lot of rides. I felt she was more secure!
3. I brought tons of distraction stuff to keep her quiet during rides & attractions. DID NOT NEED ANYTHING!! She was so mesmorized by everything she saw that I NEVER had to give her a single Cheerio!! But it can't hurt to have something to keep him quiet just in case!
4. She went on any ride w/o a ht restriction. She had no problem on ANYTHING! It was my 4yo that had problems!! LOL
5. I recommend attempting to keep him close to his normal schedule. My dd was still taking 2 naps a day (yay, still is!) which we cut to one a day unless she fell asleep at the park. We came back to our room every day for lunch & nap. We put her to bed as close to her normal bedtime as we could (around 8pm which was fine b/c the parks closed at 8pm anyway).
6. My dd was still on formula. Most bottles we gave at the hotel, but that middle of the day one I brought premeasured formula in a ziploc baggie & a bottle of water and her bottle. I prepared it when it was time to drink & by then the water was VERY warm (it was Sept - hot & humid) so I did not have to heat it. I also brought juice so she did not get dehydrated.

We had a great time with the baby. I only wish the 4yo would have been as well behaved!!!
