Does your child need to be a certain age to swim in the resort pools? DS is now5months and he loves to go swimming. The sight of water excites him to no end. He will be 11 months when we go and I would hate for him to miss out on the water (and I can't imagine what he will be like to deal with if he sees the pool and can't get in). He wears swim diapers.

I believe there is no age minimum for the pools. The only thing would be that they would need to wear swim diapers, which he does so there wouldn't be a problem.

Have a great trip!

Unlike cruise ships, kids can swim at any age in the Disney pools. Our DS has been in them since he was five months old. They do request swim diapers.

Here in Florida, where it's hotter than blazes for months, babies go swimming all the time with their folks. It's the norm. In fact, here we start swimming lessons quite young, many before they are 1 year old, because of all the canals/pools/lakes we have around.

I don't think I've ever seen a Florida hotel that won't let little kids in -- no one would stay there!

Does any one know if they allow those baby inner tube type things....the things that help hold the baby up.....I'm blanking on what they're called....... I know they're not real safe, and the baby can't be in it alone, but was thinking of using one just to help me hold up the slippery baby!!!!

Yes, you can put babies in those inner tubes with the straps in them.

My son's first trip into the water was at Disney's Vero Beach Resort in one of those.

My son was four months old on his first trip to Disney. We let him go in the pools at the Movies. Be sure to buy your own swim diapers. They are $$$$$$$ at the resort.

just a note on "disposable" swim diapers... they are washable! and dryable! a few years ago (when my kids were littler) somehow a huggies swim diaper ended up in the laundry... well, it came out beautiful! washed and dried no problem and still worked great! what a savings not having to toss 'em every time! the only time i threw them away was if they got solid waste in them or when the elastic wore out from so much use... so, give it a try, you will be pleasantly surprised :)

Gigi - you're kidding me?????!!!??? Wait til I tell my DD and DIL.. between them they are buying swim diapers for 4 babies. (2 are twins) What a savings!

Thanks for the info. I'll give it a try. We have a pool and go through about one per day!!

nope, no kidding! i've been passing this tip along for years... needless to say, the diaper companies don't want you to find out! glad i could help... now take the money saved on swim diapers and put it directly in your disney account! LOL!
