We are leaving for Disney next month. We will be taking our 4 children, ages, 9,4,18 months, and 6 months. For those of you who take your babies and stay on a resort, do you take baby food and formula with you or when you get there do you get a taxi and go out and buy everything you need? I don't know if I should pack everything or not. What about diapers and wipes? It seems like such a hassle to try to buy it when we get there but it also seems like a big hassle to try to pack it and get it to and from the airport. TIA!

I'm new here and new to planning - so I may not give the best advice out there, LOL!

It seems that many people will ship items like that to their resort and have it there waiting for them when they arrive!

Others will use an online grocer service and also have things delivered that way to their resort.

It seems the way to go since the airlines are decreasing the number of bags you can check.

I don't like to spend vacation time shopping for basics - so, I've either shipped ahead or squeezed into the suitcase. For the cost of a taxi back and forth, you can esaily ship a box of diapers, wipes and formula down to be waiting for you.

Another option - check out amazon or another online site and see if you can buy the right qty online and have it shipped direct to your resort for free.

I've done this before too - but we were gone for a while so we needed lots of diapers.

We shipped a box down with diapers, wipes, baby food, etc. Very easy!

I usually pack my diapers, wipes and formula (more room for souvinears to bring home). But when I've been down there, I've got baby food there. I've only been there w/my oldest at the baby food stage and it was all glass then, so I was worried about it breaking in suitcase. Formula...I get the huge can at BJ's and it would last us as long as I needed and it was cheaper, so I bring that.

Thanks for the info. I'm going to try packing and if I don't have enough room, I'll ship it.
Now for another question in the same thread. If I don't get a response I'll post another thread. We are buying a plane seat for the 18 month old but not the 6 month old. I probably should have bought him a seat but I didn't. Anyway, the magical express is picking us up from the airport but I just realized that I won't have a carseat for the 6 month old. What do I do???????

You cant use car seats on ME anyway. You will have to hold the babies in your laps for the bus ride.

Really? Thats scary! I guess it will have to work. Either that or I'll end up renting a car and taking both car seats.

yep, the ME bus is like an Abbott travel bus. Very nice, but no seatbelts. It is about a 30 min ride to the property. I know many people use it with babies and have never heard of a problem or accident. The times we have used it our kids have been older, but still no one buckeled in the seats. They do play a movie for the kids about the WDW parks.

You will be allowed 5 checked suitcases up to 50 lbs each so I would probably pack most of my own baby stuff to save money plus you will have the brands that you are used to.

For things like milk, juice, soda, water, snacks, yogurt, etc. we just place an order with gardengrocer.com and have it delivered to our room to use in our mini-fridge.

We always use gardengrocer.com for diapers, wipes, baby food, and regular food. When my youngest was on formula, we had ready-to-feed nursette bottles shipped directly from Enfamil to our resort.

We shipped all of our formula down (we used the ready-to-use Enfamil nursette bottles), so that was there when we got there. Once we were in Orlando, we stopped by a Walmart on the way to the resort and got other necessities....diapers, wipes, baby food, etc... We had rented a car, though....if I didn't have the car, I would have probably shipped a box with all that stuff prior to leaving.

Hi,

We just took our 6 month old to Disney in April and stayed at the BCV. We used www.gardengrocer.com for diapers, wipes and baby food and general groceries. They didn't carry our soy dry formula so each of us carried a can in our carry-ons - worked out fine - not problems at all. We did run out of diapers and wipes and were able to buy some more at the resort store....

In regard to the ME Bus. BRING A CAR SEAT! We had a little "incident" and if our baby wasn't in his car seat - I really don't know what would have happened to him. During drop off at BWV - as the bus was pulling away - a car started backing up right into the bus and the bus driver had to SLAM on his brakes! Everyone went FLYING! My mom slammed her knees into her seat. One guy flew into the aisle. A little girl slammed into her seat and banged her head - it was scary! It wasn't the bus drivers fault at all - it was the car who suddenly pulled out in front of him and didn't look. Not a great way to start our vacation! Even though there is no seat belts my husband had placed the car seat on the seat next to him "sideways". He was holding the car seat very tightly and securely while were were moving - thank goodness! So please - if you have a Travel System - just check it in at the gate and then definitely use the car seat on the bus!

Another bit of advice - get a stroller fan - it was the best thing we brought and the baby LOVED it! I got mine on Ebay - pretty cheap too - search under "Fantastik Fans". They suck up batteries - but boy did he love it!!

Good Luck and Have a great trip!

Hi,

Question for you HeatherAnne....how did you attach this fan on the stroller so it wouldn't fall? Looks like a great one, though!

I'm curious how to attach this fan also. I'm also afraid the babies will get their fingers caught. Since I have an 18 month old and 6 month old I will need 2, which is fine. I have a double stroller. However, both of my 2 younger ones are very grabby. I'm really afraid they'll get their fingers in it. I don't know how to stop them from doing it. We were in Target yesterday and I have my 18 month old a bag of popcorn (bad mommy!) to keep her calm so I could get through the store. The next thing I know my 6 month old was shoving a handfull in his mouth! He doesn't even have teeth. Anyway, I just don't know how to keep their fingers from getting caught.
I will definitely bring both carseats. Thats scary!
I am going to look into gardengrocer.com and shipping and see which one works for us better. My baby eats a LOT! He's 6 months old and weighs 25 pds.

I nurse, so I didn't have to worry about the formula stuff... and my guy wasn't quite 6 months old on our trip and he wasn't on solids yet... BUT.. I'll tell you this... the thought of packing diapers and wipes for a week made me cringe... I ended up placing an order at gardengrocer.com for some things and I added the diapers and wipes to that order... So very convenient!!

They had baby food and formula, too, I'm sure of it...

We got these fans, too...they were great!!!!!! My 6 month old LOVED the lights and had a great time hanging out with the fan! The blades are made of foam, so they didn't hurt him if he grabbed at them...
I even attached the fan to the Ergo carrier at one point and gave MYSELF a cool breeze! lol

Hi,

The fans I bought on ebay had two different fans in the box. One had a CLIP so you can clip it onto the umbrella of the stroller and the other one just stood by itself. We just used in the room and stood it on a table for the baby to look at. They are made of FOAM so the baby and kids can't hurt themselves. My baby kept grabbing it - he was so fascinated by it. We also purchased a "Mickey Mouse" fan while were down there and it didn't work nearly as good as the cheap little Fantastik Fan!

One more thing....when the batteries ran out we had nothing to OPEN the fan up with so we bought an eyeglass repair kit at the resort gift shop - which worked out great!

Have fun!

Thanks for the tips!! We also bought the Mickey fan last time, and it barely worked. Looked super cute....but not a lot of breeze!! I will have to look for the Fantastik Fan with the clip. The lights will be great! Last trip, we went over New Years, and everyone was selling drinks with the stems that lit-up....we would put the stem of the drink in his tray, and he would watch it forever!!! ;)
