DS's first birthday is coming up and I'm trying to figure up where we should have it. I've been thinking of a few places but they are more for young children and this being his first birthday there will be mainly adults there and I would like to have it some place that they will enjoy but is also aproppiate for a 1st birthday. Think maybe a place with an activity or even a resturant. So do you have any ideas of good locations? Love some fresh ideas. We live in Burlington county New Jersey so anywhere around that area maybe a little farther if you think it is a good place. Thanks :thumbsup2

We did our kids' first birthdays at our house. They are too young to really care and often get overstimulated and need a nap. I still did a theme parties though. DD's theme was Luau and DS's was space/rockets. We had a blast.

I'm planning DD's first birthday now and we are going to do it here at our house too. I think she will be most comfortable here and we aren't having too many people either. It will be Wonder Pets as she loves them :goodvibes

OP -If it's mostly adults (that's what ours will be too) then I think a restaurant would probably be your best bet. Have fun planning! I know I am :goodvibes

For my girls first birthdays I made cakes from Family Fun mag
and had friends over.
Very casual and laid back

I agree do it at home, at 12mo they do not care much for presents or much else, what will be the big hit is the cake. Either get them their own cake or allow them to have at it with the party cake and cut away what they get into. Put it in front of them and allow them to mash into it, be sure to have a camera ready. Allow for a HUGE mess and plan on a bath afterwords.

Just doing ours at home for DS, with just close family members. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse theme, since that is his favorite right now. I don't get having the huge 1st birthday celebration. The party should be about the baby...not everyone else!

My BFF's daughter turned 1 in may and she had a wonderful party at her house and it was a farm theme. She made this really cute barn cake with animal cupcakes and the decorations were so cute.

Another vote for at-home...when DS turned 1, we had cake with my family a week early and then with DH's family a few days later (at the time we lived in VA and came up to NJ/NY for Thanksgiving) and on DS' actual birthday we took him out to dinner and got him a slice of his beloved carrot cake.

If you still like the restaurant idea, we went to Charlie Brown's Steakhouse for DS' 2nd birthday (Clifton, NJ) and they let us use the private room without paying extra, just buying the food. That was nice for everyone. Not sure where you are in Burlington County but there are several Charlie Brown's there (though some are closing or have closed). Some IHOPs also have separate rooms at no extra charge. Have fun!

I just saw the video of my son's first birthdaY..:sad1: and he just turned 18!

It seriously felt like yesterday! We had it at my boss' house (she's his godmom). At the time her son was 11 and now he's married with a child. Time FLIES!!

Happy 1st Birthday to your little guy :)

We had our middle DD's first birthday at a Chinese buffet. I think it was $10 per person at that time. She says that's why she loves chinese food so much LOL

My DD is only 5 months old, but I have started thinking about her 1st birthday already. I think we are going to do it at our house on our patio (her birthday is in July).

Vote for home! We just did my daughter's last month. She was able to play with her toys and the other kids there. We could take her straight to the bath after she enjoyed her smash cake. We did a small variety of appetizers (all from Trader Joe's) and then cake and ice cream. My 5 year old insisted on goody bags for the other kids there. It was a nice, relaxed time and she was napping by the time the guests left!
