Does anyone know if its true that BA do a twilight check In like Virgin at Gatwick?
When I booked the flight last year the sales person told me she thought it was available if I registered as a member with BA executive club, which my husband and I have done. Just wondered if anyone else knows anything? Thanks Jo

Hi Jo

Can't help I'm afraid, but I would also like to know as we are with BA too this year and after using the Twilight checkin with Virgin last year, it was soooo easy!!!!!!!!

Hiya,

They definitely do this as I am booked with BA for August and it's one of the things that swung it for me. I'm not aware you have to belong to the Flying Club though? Perhaps if someone knows they can post as then I will join ;)

Hi

We flew to Orlando with BA and did twilight check in. We didn't have to register with anything to do this. Just turned up on the night before!

I hope that you are not confusing Virgin and BA.

BA don't have Flying Club - that is Virgin - they have Executive Club. Also, Virgin's twilight check-in uses real people; AFAIK, the BA option is self-service check-in. Unless you have booked direct with BA and paid by credit card, I don't think you can use self-service check-in unless you have a ticket with a magnetic stripe on it (ie the ticket is on thin card, not paper or e-ticket)

We are booked with BA for May. On the BA web site it states:

"Check-in times for London Gatwick Longhaul:

Check-in opens at 5am for First and Club World and 6am for World Traveller Plus and World Traveller. Passengers may also check in between 4 pm and 10 pm for all Long Haul flights the next day."

I understand this to mean that all passengers can book in the night before. Hope I've got it right. :confused3

I think I will call BA when I get a minute. Come to think of it when we did the Twilight check in on Christmas Eve with Virgin, I don't recall seeeing any other operator in the hall working at all! My brother went to do the Twilight check in with BA on Christmas Day evening to fly on Boxing Day and there was no one there after he was told there would be! :confused3

That seems to be unequivocal. However, a previous poster was using Virgin's terms (Flying Club and Twilight Check-in) so I was worried that they had confused Virgin and BA

Yes BA do a twilight check in service at Gatwick - we used it in November :cool1:

We had filled in all the necessary info online before we went so it only took a few minutes :teeth:

Effective 21 March 2004 customers departing on British Airways scheduled services from the North Terminal at Gatwick can check in, deposit baggage and collect their boarding cards, the day before their flight departs.

Who can use this service?
This service will be available for customers on any Intercontinental Service departing the following day, and also, for those customers departing on European Services (excluding charters) and Domestic services that leave on or before 10:00 the following day.

Self-Service Check-in details/Self Check-in process.
Early check-in is available only between 16:00 and 22:00 on the day prior to departure for those passengers qualifying as shown above.
All customers using this facility will need to present themselves, their documents and all their checked baggage as though they were about to travel.
They will be asked to use the Self-Service Check-in kiosks at Zone C, and then proceed to drop their bags at the Fast Bag Drop Desks in Zone C.
Those Customers that hold Premier, Gold or Silver Executive Club cards will also be able to check-in at their appropriate Premium Check-in desk in Zone C (although still not prior to 16:00).
