This is just for people who may be travelling or not by BA flights in the near future.my hubby was a loadmaster for BA working mainly on longhaul flights and Concorde.

He has phoned his old manager and im afraid its bad news.Unoficially they are saying it looks like there is no end in sight for the end of the dispute.Monday or tuesday at the earliest im afraid.

There is also mutterings of the strikeescolateing to other airports and divisions within the airline.

sorry for the bad news

That's awful. I feel so bad for the people whose holidays will be severely disrupted or ruined by this strike.

I hope they manage to come to an agreement fairly soon so this can end and people can resume their plans.

This is Heathrow only still, correct?

Slight sense of urgency here as I am about to leave for my flight to Gatwick!

As far as I know I heard on the news it is just Heathrow at the moment so hopefully you should be okay. Have a lovely time.

Yes Miffy, Heathrow only. If I were you, though, I would call to be on the safe side.

Have a great trip :cool1:

Here you go Miffy - latest flight info for Gatwick on flights to Orlando

LOL Wilma, thanks.

We are on the 10.55 tomorrow flying to MCO BA 2037

Sorry to be a worry guts but when you say other airports, would the dispute still be with BA or involve other airlines too? We are due to fly out on Sunday from Gatwick with Virgin and what we are dreading is what you said about the dispute escalating. Looking at The VA website so far so good. We feel so sorry for the people already stranded and were hoping that they would start being able to fly after 6pm tonight. Now that you have said it could be Monday or Tuesday, why aren't BA saying that????

Other airlines are fine - the only disruptions involving other airlines are the ones flying from Heathrow. As far as I understand it, there are no problems affecting Gatwick at all.

Thanks for that wilma-bride. It felt very insensitive to ask the question, knowing about the stranded passengers but after waiting so long for the trip, it will our first time in Orlando, that I just had too!

Miffy - have a wonderful holiday. Let us know if the Le Meridien has gone downhill since it's recent / forthcoming takeover.

I can only see flights that are cross matched eg ba and another airline sharing planes would cause a problem. So this will not effect on the occasional other flight for other airlines. Virgins flight times are different to BA so they will prob not be affected unless other unions start to join the strike. My advise though is to contact you airline or tour op before departing for the airport for up to date info.

I saw the news report on Sky, so big sigh of relief coming from our house, as we should be ok now. We can get on and start our packing, didn't fancy doing it much before, too nervous in case it put the mockers on the trip! I hope that everyone still stranded doesn't have too much longer to wait, it must be b****y horrible waiting and not having any news :confused3

PS I hope you have a good time Miffy :sunny:
