Anyone flown club world to MCO recently? how does it compare to virgin (LGW level) uc?

I like them both for different reasons - they are both very nice ways to fly - but Virgin has the edge at the moment due to:

Clubhouse Lounge - its FAR better than the Club World Lounge IMO
UC cabin - I prefer it to the CW layout, feels more like First Class than upper class, and we love the bar feature onboard.
Little extras - PJ's, beds made for you whilst you're at the bar

but I prefer CW for:
seats and cabins - the actual seats and cabins are newly refurbed and much fresher than UC LGW fleet which is dated looking
entertainment - CW has better system with On-demand play, LGW fleet still has the old Odyssey and Nova systems
Cabin Crew - BA's just are more professional IMO.

If the UC cabins aren't refurbed within the next 12 months or so I can see us switching to CW possibly and then back to VA when they get their skates on and have done the tart up.

whats so bad about the ba lounge? is everything inclusive (eg champagne cocktails! haha) like with virgin?

what does it offer exactly?

the Terrace Lounge is very nice, obviously, but lacks character, it doesnt (as far as I can remember from last year) serve breakfasts as Virgin Clubhouse do - just the evening meal buffet like if you're doing the night flight to South Africa, other than that is a snack style choice that you help yourself to. The computer area is good and the showers/ bathrooms are lovely but Virgin has the kids area, much more funky, more fun, loads of food provided all day, cooked to order.

Hi

Over the last year I have flown both and I never thought I'd say this as I have flown Virgin for years, but BA is better on the LGW route.

I feel that Virgin treat the LGW to MCO route as second class, their planes are older, the entertainment system is old and hit and miss and the food is dire. Their eat anything anytime is simply not true as you get three choices. In UC the hostesses are good to passengers, but not as good as the LHR routes. I love their beds but miss the in-between stage, when you're nearly lying down, but not quite flat as the pillows they give you are thin and do not do a 'pillow job'.

BA have newer planes, good entertainment system, professional staff in all classes and good food. Their beds are comfortable and you have complete control over them.

I would say that I would fly both again, but if the prices were the same I would probably go with BA. Saying all this, I probably won't fly either to Orlando in the near future as funds are tighter and I'm not going back until 2010.

You'll enjoy either airline as it;s just nice to be able to go Business/UC.

We've only done the BA CW and have to say it A++++......you don't feel like you've been on a plane for long the time flies by....I was trying to stay awake to watch movies but the comfy bed was hard to resist....

the dates im looking at BA CW is about £200 cheaper per person!

Would defo go with BA then as every little saved helps. I flew BA CW to Boston in December and they were fantastic, their staff were so friendly. I say BOOK IT:thumbsup2

(still not booked! - almost changed mind and went with virgin, but now with the lounge being closed on our dates Im glad I didnt!)

with BA CW do you get things like the fast track security, and priority boarding??

BA CW still gets fasttrack security, priority boarding etc so the same as VA.

However with the Lounge closure (happening whilst we are travelling in Oct:headache: ) we are very disappointed in losing that for the time being, we've been emailed to say we have comp use of the V-Room but its far from being the same level of quality, serenity and service IMO. Losing the use of the Clubhouse is a big minus for us - I'm about to email and ask them if they'll comp us into the BA lounge instead LOL!! (no points for guessing the reply :rotfl: )

Not sure about LGW but I know at LHR there is fast track security check and a special queue for CW....however we got there a little late and it the queue wasn't v. clear...
