They said we receive cards saying EMH with our name but not for scanning. If we go for AM EMH, do we show these at the gate or will they know we’re good from our MBs?

yes - all Disney Springs resorts currently are allowed to do extra magic hours
Just show your room key with the resort name on it
Also check with the B resort what time the DS bus will pick up for an early morning EM.

If you add the hotel reservation to the My Disney Experience website, the Extra Magic Hour entitlements gets connected to your tickets. That means you can simply use an old Magic Band or your ticket card instead of your room key.
