Well, made the reservations in Paris and Barcelona before the cruise. Tried to get the Renaissance at the airport on the 8th, but it's currently full.... Managed to make all of the reservations using points. We're staying at the Park Hyatt in Paris and the Hilton Barcelona. We are taking the Elipsos night train from Paris to Barcelona. We plan on leaving the US on May 25 (my birthday) and leaving Paris on the night of the 29th. That will give us 3 nights in Paris and 2 nights pre-cruise in Barcelona.

I want to do something similar to this. Mind if I ask how much the train ride is per person. Is it cheaper than flying?

We're staying at the Renaissance airport for two nights before the cruise too!! We are hoping to get there in the afternoon on Thursday and just chill for the rest of the night, then wake up the next morning and do some sightseeing on Friday. We booked the cruise package that offers breakfast and transportation to the port. We haven't booked our flights yet but that's our plan!

I was looking into either Hilton to use/earn points but I will check out this pre-cruise package.

We are thinking of doing Paris post-cruise. We want to do Paris DL and my 8 year old DD has been "waiting her whole life" to see the Eifel tower. I'm thinking we will do the train up to Paris even if it costs the same as air just so we can see more of the country side.

I guess it depends on what class of service on the train you take. Here is the link to the train: Ellipsos Night Train. I just think that it would be cool to take the train. It also saves us a night in a hotel and it would be a new experience.

Does anyone know if the Renaissance Barcelona hotel is a hotel that Disney will be using for our upcoming cruise??

I'm looking at booking their pre cruise package. 136 euros for a nights stay, breakfast in the morning and free shuttle to the port. They will also pick you up at the airport as well.

Thank you!

.
Where did you get the information about the pre-cruise package?

Thanks

Make sure it is the correct renaissance hotel. The one u r referring to is not the one with Disney I believe. My travel agent was the one to clue me in to that. Check the address!!!!

Here is the exact verbiage of the description of the package from my reservation confirmation:
Pre Cruise Package with Breakfast, includes buffet breakfast for 2 adults daily at La Sal Marina, based upon availability, airport transportation, 1 way transfer

But Barcelona hotel is not one that is associated with Disney as far as I know.

Edited to read Barcelona airport hotel is not the one associated with disney

My two friends and I just booked our airfare and hotel so we are set to go on the cruise in June! Spending 3 nights in Barcelona before the cruise (praying our luggage doesn't get lost) and giving us plenty of time to get acclimated to Europe! So excited!

The Renaissance Barcelona Airport hotel is full:( I booked a room at the AC Hotel Som. Trip Advisor had good review. Rate is 120 EU. Breakfast and transfers are not included.

Does any one have information on setting up airport and cruise terminal transfers?

I know that the information for the DCL excursions is not up yet but I found a link that lists the information and prices from the 2011 Med cruises. I'm sure some of them will be different and (probably more expensive!) but hopefully this will give us an idea of the types of excursions that will be offered. I was glad to see this for budgeting purposes and I think it will help us to decide which ports we would do on our own and which ones we might do a DCL excursion.

I hope you find it helpful too!

Thank you for posting this! This confirms that we will be booking private tours for shore excursions and saving A LOT of money! For our family of 5 to do an excursion in Rome through DCL would cost us $1000! :scared1:

Just booked our plane fix. 3 bus class fort lauderdale to Atlanta to Spain. Ok. Now it is real. No turning back now'!!!

Is it reasonable to try and 2 two days in London, 2 days in Paris, then 2 days in Barcelona. What would be the best way to travel among these countries? I could fly into any one of them from Memphis but London seems to be the cheapest. There is a train from London to Paris and from Paris to Barcelona. I'm sure this is quickly adding up.
