Hey all!
I've been checkin' out stuff to eat at MGM and I must say, this park is really lacking in the dining departement. We are looking for realtively cheap eats, in an air conditioned venue! :) I'm curious to know whether or not the ABC commisary is indoors with AC... but that's besides the point! :)

I've read rave reviews about Beaches and Cream at the Beach Club and I know there is a boat that goes from MGM to the Beach Club resort. My question is, would it be worth the afternoon boat ride from MGM to BC for a lunch at Beaches and Cream? From what I gather, the burgers are pretty good, and the ice cream is to die for. My family is a big fan of ice cream, so I thought this might be a winner. Also, when is the best time of the afternoon to visit and not have to wait an eternity for a table?

Any suggestions? While the menu at H&V sounds yummy, my parents just really aren't into paying that much money for food. They'd rather spend it on souveniers (which is fine with me!). Also, if we grab a sandwich and ice cream at Beaches and Cream in the late afternoon, will that hold us over until we get back to the resort that nite? Just curious on the portions!

Thanks, as always!
Jeff

Beaches and Cream is REALLY small! If you go anytime during the lunch rush, you probably won't get a table. Try eating a large breakfast and waiting for lunch until 2 or 3. The ABC commissary was airconditioned, but had a limited selection. I have also heard that the portions at the 50's Prime Time Cafe were huge -- you could probably share to save $$$.

B&C is great, and if you go off hours you may have to wait a bit, but it's not bad. However, the boat ride from MGM is about 20-25 min each way - if you add the travel time, enter and exit time, and time to wait and eat, you will loose a chunk of your day.

If you're into saving money, I would go with the commmisary -it's basic theme park food. At the end of the day, drive or boat over to B&C and grab some of the great ice cream strolling around.

Jeff, you asked if it is worth it to leave MGM to go to B&C for lunch. If you were staying in that area then perhaps yes. Otherwise I don't think so at all. The burgers are good according to my family but not THAT special. It will take you so much time ...just not worth it!
