He just won the Master's and he's got me all teary-eyed.

I can't imagine how hard it is for his wife to have to be home with their 2 week old baby and not be there to see him win.

What a special win for him, 2 weeks after his first child is born.

He's a great ambassador for the game of golf. :thumbsup2

I'm sure the prize money made it a bit easier... :rotfl:

They have a healthy baby, and he won the Master's. Nothing to be sad about, I'm sure she's fine. Probably happy to have him out of the house!

If I was able, I'd definitely want to be there to support my husband. :confused3 Yes, I would be a bit sad if I couldn't be there.

Great win! I loved his answer in the green jacket ceremony - "I never got this far in my dreams." What a fantastic, humble comment.

I agree. I got all choked up again seeing that.

It's funny, I don't really follow golf or watch it on TV... except for The Masters. It's just so pretty to watch. Normally I only get to watch the last couple of hours, but today for the first time I watched it from beginning to end. We were definitely rooting for Bubba, at first because I thought a guy named "Bubba" just NEEDED to win The Masters. But it was great to see the run he made, and seeing that hook shot in the playoff when it looked like he was dead meat. The emotion at the end was great too.

Bubba is a unique individual. A real person. No hidden agenda. What you see is what you get. I'll bet the Masters people are in a permanent state of cringe having to put the name "Bubba" on the trophy. The hallowed ground of Augusta has now been rednecked. Next years dinner...possum and grits.

Seriously, it is amazing how he is able to contain his composure while playing with that much emotion is just barely below the surface. Way to go, Bubba!

And here is a guy that has never had a golf lesson. Completely self taught. And were was Tiger again...probably out taking another lesson and working on the "process". :rotfl:

Actually the baby was born over a month ago. They adopted him 2 weeks ago when he was a month old.

Considering he just made more money in a weekend than most people make in a decade, they were able to afford adopting a baby, etc, if she really wanted to be there, they could hire a nanny to watch the baby.

Another exciting and dramatic finish at Augusta again this year!

It was really nice to see Bubba win and show some emotion. So many professional athletes expect to win and don't show anything but he is obviously different...at least for now. ;)

I would love to go to Augusta one year for the Masters...that would be a dream come true for me!
:cloud9:

Bubba is from the Pensacola area...in fact, his Dad used to work out here where I work. Although I did not know his dad, I did not think too highly of him. This originally biased my opinion of Bubba, but as I've read about some of his beliefs and the things he stands for, I've become a fan.

Bubba has also been rather generous to several local charities/events in the local area.

Here's a story from the local paper:

Watson goes from local to legend

Marty Stanovich remembers handing Bubba Watson the Divot Derby trophy the final year he was eligible 15 years ago.

The memory added to the joy Stanovich experienced Sunday, as he watched the Milton High graduate win the Masters and reach a zenith from a golf career that began on local courses.

"It was absolutely amazing," said Stanovich, executive director of the First Tee of Northwest Florida, an organization that Watson has long supported. "It's the biggest win for junior golf in Pensacola since Jerry Pate won the U.S. Open in 1976. Bubba just went from famous to legendary.

"That's what the Masters does for you. If you have one title you can take home in golf -- and you can ask anyone who has played the game -- the Masters is the one they want."

Watson's triumph Sunday puts more glitter on Pensacola's legacy with amateur and professional golf. Watson, who gained tournament experience as a youth competing in the Greater Pensacola Junior Golf Association circuit, announced earlier this year he was funding the Divot Derby for the next five years.

It will enable kids to participate in the event for free. In addition, he has committed to return to Pensacola sometime this summer to do a free clinic for kids and the public, in conjunction with the Divot Derby that will be staged in July.

"Louis Oosthuizen (who Watson beat in Masters playoff) and Charl Schwartzel (2011 Masters champion), those guys were able to achieve what they did because of Ernie Els' junior golf programs in South Africa," Stanovich said. "Ernie Els invested in the next generation and that's what Bubba Watson has done for Pensacola."

To me, the money is irrelevant.

They have a new baby and it doesn't matter a bit how they got that baby. It's a very special time in Bubba Watson's life and I'm glad he won. The fact he didn't throw a hissy fit like Tiger Woods made it all the better.

CBS News reported that she did not attend because the baby cannot leave Florida yet as the adoption is not finalized.

Seeems like a really nice guy, did you notice how many pros came out to congradulate him. I don't remember that hapening like it did yesterday.

Did I say how it mattered? No, just that if they could afford to adopt, they could afford to get someone to stay with the baby for part of the day so she could have been with him. How about another family member?

I read that his mom was with him - maybe his mom and his wife don't get along? :confused3 Or maybe they do, and they planned it this way. I'm not going to feel sorry that the wife wasn't there. There are a lot of things I feel sorry about (soldiers missing the birth of their children, and getting killed before they ever get to meet them is a top one) but having two dreams come true like this? Ya, no.

Geez, I thought *I* was cynical. :confused3 FTR, they adopted (after a four year process) because his wife can't have biological children. I don't know what your problem with Bubba Watson is, but I'm glad he won.

Guess we'll have to agree to disagree.
