We went over for another spur of the moment weekend trips this past weekend. I was lucky enough to score last minute reservations at Chef Mickey's for dinner. The only reservation available was at 9:10pm, so I was a little nervous about eating so late. It worked out perfectly!

We watched the fireworks at 9pm from the 4th floor observation deck at the Contemporary and then ran straight over to CM's as soon as they were over. Almost perfect timing (I think we may have been 5 minutes late for our reservation). We were seated pretty quickly. The food wasn't great, but the atmosphere was wonderful. I was worried that the characters wouldn't be "up to par" because of the late dinner hour. Boy was I wrong. They were lively and upbeat. Not only that, but we were one of the last families left in our section, so each character spent a ton of personal time with our 6 year old daughter. She LOVE it. Donald danced with her for a good 5 minutes and Goofy did, too. Goofy also played hide & seek with her for a few minutes.

Then, Donald snuck up on Pluto and untied his apron. Then Donald tied Pluto's apron to a chair. One of the waiters came out and saw the whole thing and sent Donald to "time out". We were all laughing hysterically.

So, if anyone has late reservations at CM's and they're nervous about how the characters will be that late, DON'T BE! It will be wonderful!

thanks for the great review. I tried to score a dinner ressie at Chef Mickey's for our upcoming trip and couldn't get in. Chef Mickey's is my favorite place to eat at the world.

We have dinner booked and i am wondering if i should change to BF as i hear the food was not up to par? What do you recommend and NOT recommend for dinner here? We have some fussy eaters in the party so i thought the buffet would be the best option.

I wasn't too thrilled about the food. The tenderloin was dry and I'm not a big seafood fan, so the fish on the buffet was not my cup of tea. We dined here more for the characters, really. They had a decent salad selection, the mashed potatoes are AWESOME, the desserts were good and there was a pretty good selection. Everything else is just so-so.

It makes me miss Chef Mickey's!! I love it when the characters "goof" off and have fun. I think I have only been there for dinner once and the other times it has been breakfast (which is always fine)!!
