Besides the appearance of the characters is there any thing else related to Stars Wars at MGM that's worth braving the crowds? We're fans but don't want to use up precious park time to see characters. Do you think AK and Epcot would be less crowded while Star wars is going on? And is the SW weekend Fri thru Sun? The calendar at the disney websire makes it look like it's during the week. TIA

We were at MGM in May 2004 and thoroughly enjoyed at day of Star Wars weekend. In addition to seeing the characters we saw an interview type show with a SW actor (he had played a young Luke at some point --- don't remember his name). Anyway, the best part was being seated by the storm troopers --- they "harassed" some guests, made funny comments, etc. Since we were only there one day and our kids wanted to see Queen Amidala, Jedi Mickey, Chewi, and were even "taken prisoner" by some sand people we didn't see much else going it. It was really fun to see some park guests dressed as their favorite characters and really "living the Star Wars dream". If you have the time, it's a worthwhile event for SW fans! By the way, it was only Friday, Saturday, Sunday when we were there. We went on a Friday which is a low park attendance day since a lot of people use it for travel and we didn't think it was overly crowded.

We've been there for SW weekends and it isn't really that crowded. The characters are a lot of fun and interact with the crowd. There are really neat picture ops.

Last year we were at MGM on a Friday in June. We found it to be quite crowded. My DS18 is a huge Star Wars fan and even he thought it was too busy. In fact, he missed Fantasmic because he went back to the hotel after dinner with a headache. It was the busiest park we visited all week. This year we're going to go to MGM during the week.

I think they also have a Star Wars version of Millionaire going on, exclusive merchandise for sale (pins & more), people acting out skits (teaching kids how to fight with sabers and stuff like that), a big Star Wars parade. There are appearances by the actual actors from the movies. Tatooine Traders is a MAD HOUSE! I guess it really depends on how big a Star Wars fan you are as to whether or not it's worth it. No matter how huge the crowds, for my husband, it's worth it! :darth: :chewy: :yoda: :ewok:

We've gone several years in a row and to be honest, I didn't notice less crowds at the other parks. I think the folks that aren't into the Star Wars thing opt for the other parks. MGM draws the Star Wars fans and then some.
