avoiding stairs

Hello,

I tried to search for this question, but I didn't see anything, so my apologies if it has already been asked and answered.

A member of my party needs to avoid stairs. Not all stairs, I suppose 2 or 3 aren't too bad, but Toy Story and Splash Mountain in particular are bad. There are a lot of stairs and the people behind always seem to be in a super duper hurry and get pushy and impatient with the few extra moments it takes her to navigate both up and down staircases.

Does this require a DAS? Is it possible to send her through the exit to wait (for Splash Mountain, at least) and the rest of us through the standby line and then ride with her when we reach the ride? Is there another option we haven't considered?

We aren't looking for a full DAS - there's some trouble walking and standing, but she finds it manageable - it's just the darn stairs with pushy people behind us.

Can someone suggest the best way to handle this?

Thanks for your help!

I do not know if this will help. I injured my knee just before the last trip to Disney July of 2013. I did not get the pass as I too only could not do stairs. For Toy Story Mania and Splash Mountain, I asked the cast member if I could do the ramp instead of the stairs and they put me right through without any problems.

And, depending upon the size of your party, they may be able to go with her. We just got back from DLR and DD went with me on any alternate routes.

We are all much happier with the whole "ask for what you need when you need it" approach than getting a DAS.

It seemed silly for us to have to get a DAS for two rides, but avoiding the pushy people (I actually got knocked down once, and I'm not the one with the knee issue!) and the really nasty comments on those stairs are a must. There were some really awful interactions on those two rides. There was some nice people too, that kind of blocked the way for us until she was safely down the staircase, but sadly, you can't always count on that!

Thanks for the replies!
