We leave northern Indiana Friday (6/4) at 4am. We should be near Nashville by 11am or so. We'll be travelling I-65 to I-24 to I-75.

Can I (or How can I) completely avoid the construction on I-65? Is there some insider information out there from some locals?

Sitting in traffic while trying to get to the World does NOT sound like fun! Coming home...who cares? But I want to GET THERE!!

Thanks!

Nashville and near Nashville native for 18 years here. Unfortunately there is no way to avoid I-65 heading South until you get into Nashville, but the traffic should not be too bad after about 9:30 am as that is the practical end of rush hour. However, to avoid the I-40 mess (much work on I-40 both East and West to add lanes) I would stay on I-65 towards Birmingham (actually the signs now say towards Huntsville) and exit onto I-440 going east then to I-24 South. This will bypass most of downtown Nashville and will certainly keep you out of the I-40 construction area. The only other way is to go I-65 to I-40 to I-24. You really don't want to do this if you can avoid it. The I-440 route is somewhat longer, but it is much quicker. If you need any additional info, just ask!
