Plans have changed and need to decide between Jan 6th - 11th or April 14th - 19th. My family prefers Jan and rooms are cheaper but crowd calenders still have crowds high though to me it's clearly passed the holiday. April is much better for crowds based on calendars but I don't believe it. Any suggestions/input?

I think it's a tough question. If next year is anything like this year, the Holiday season should end on Monday, January 5th. So I would expect to see a drop in crowds starting that Tuesday (1/6), but they haven't announced the schedule and that could change. If they extend the holiday until the next weekend, then there might still be crowds that week in January. April is going to be hard to guess because Disney announced that the 60th anniversary celebration would begin in the Spring, which might mean higher crowds in the Spring than in the past.

I guess for me, I would probably wait until April in hopes that the 60th anniversary events will be started and so that HM will be running.

I don't recall the Winter Holiday going past the Monday after New Years.

We have gone that week in January twice and the crowds weren't that bad. Once about 10 years ago and again 3 years ago.

But as others have mentioned the crowd levels seem to be all through out the year anymore. With NO definite low season.

The thing we noticed, were the number of attractions closed for refurbishment. 3 years ago we made sure to go in on Sunday to catch all of the attractions that would be going down the next week.

Easter is April 5th, so that shouldn't impact April 14th - 19th.

When To Go????

January for lower crowds. As long as refurbishment list wasn't an issue.

April dates shouldn't have many attractions closed. And you might be there for any special events beginning in the spring for the 60th Anniversary.

Which ever dates you choose, have a great time!!

We were there Jan 3-16 2014 and found a huge drop in crowds in the second week (the week you hope to go!) If my memory is correct the HM went down the Tuesday (so I think you would miss that). But you will still catch some Xmas decorations (we found starting on the 2nd week Monday they started taking down bit by bit.)

We found the weather great (were from Northern Canada), the crowds descent and the refurbs we ran into were very few, BTMRR, Nemo, HM.

FYI
Next January 14 thru 18 is the disney star wars run at Disneyland so I'm sure it will be busy anytime close to those dates.

You started a second thread (after this one) asking the same question, which I deleted (no one had posted in it yet). One thread for this question will be fine.:goodvibes

Geemo --

You mentioned it so I just wanted to show you the holiday season dates for the last several years, and specifically when they (officially) ended:

Friday, November 13, 2009 –- Sunday, January 3, 2010
Friday, November 12, 2010 –- Sunday, January 2, 2011
Monday, November 14, 2011 –- Sunday, January 8, 2012
Monday, November 12, 2012 –- Sunday, January 6, 2013
Tuesday, November 12, 2013 –- Monday, January 6, 2014

I think figment_jii is right in that the next holiday season will extend through Monday, January 5, 2015, to allow for the full Three Kings Day extended weekend celebration.

We live in Bay Area and our Spring Break will be April 13-17. This is the week we'll be going because our Annual Passes expire beginning of May and decided not to take our 3rd grader out of school. I'm hoping it's not too crowded, but I'm just going to expect it be because it's always crowded now anyway.

I dont think crowds will be that much different either time. April you run into a chance for Spring Breakers. If January works better for you go then. Just keep in mind, first week after the holidays I would expect some refurbs to pop up especially with the 60th coming up that summer.
