Avoid this ride with little ones

Bugs Life and Honey I Shunk the Audience are both intense for SOME kids (my kids were fine). As is Stitch.

Another big mistake is getting on Snow White first - its to be worked up to.

Dinosaur was much more intense last trip than I remembered.

We went last year with two kids who were scared of EVERYTHING. Seriously, Figment was too much for them (older kids, too - seven and eight). My kids have never been scared of A Bugs Life - we skip it because we find it really dull.

Its really worthwhile when travelling with kids to get a guidebook for kids (Kim Wright Wriley's Disney World with Kids) which is say "this one is dark" "this one is loud." And to have a plan to work up to things - ideally, the first 3D movie would be Philharmagic or the Muppet Movie - if the kids can't handle those (the kids were were traveling with didn't like Philharmagic!) they aren't handling Bugs Life.

(And, if you are eeked out by bugs - its is A Bugs Life).

Another ride that scares children is Stich. .

Yup! Freaked DS out. He was 6 at the time and we were seated at the top in the wheelchair section. He was strapped into his wheelchair and the harness is mounted on the wall. He felt restricted enough by the harness.... but when the show started he completely flipped out. I don't remember the show..... I just remember thinking DS was going to have a heart attack.

We've been to Disney many times and our we took our girls for their 3rd trip in August-we hadn't done "It's Tough to be a Bug" yet with them until this past trip..... my younger DD was a month away from turning 5. She loves bugs. Collects them in containers to watch them and then lets them go... I figured she'd love this movie... :rotfl: Oh my gosh! She FREAKED! Screamed like crazy-like nothing I'd ever seen her do! :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: She was absolutely hysterical and of course we were planted smack dab in the middle of the theater with no way to get out :sad2: I covered her ears and she burrowed her head under my arm with her eyes closed and crying.... I learned my lesson that day....

We took our youngest on this when she was 18 months and again at 34 months. I ask a CM before the doors open if it is possible to get a seat near the exit, just in case. They have me wait by a specific door and then I sit right near an exit. She was fine both times but I was able to relax and enjoy it knowing that I had an easy out.

She loves bugs and has no fear so we thought she would be ok but you just never know.

When I was 11 I saw that and I am now 14 and I about had a heart attack.
I am scarred for life frmo that bugs life show. :3dglasses
Ever since then, I refuse to see it. What scared me was the invisible-spray stuff. I really didn't see anything and I started crying.

We've been going to WDW since my girls were 2 1/2 and 5 years old - and they've never freaked on any attraction. Actually, only the 2 1/2 yr old ever had a 'freak' moment at WDW, and that was when she met Goofy as her very first character. Man, he's big. Anyway, we bought her a little stuffed Mickey, and told her Mickey Mouse will keep you safe. I've also explained to them that everything at WDW is for fun, and it's not real, just all good pretend fun.

I wonder why some kids just don't feel safe, even with their parents right there beside them? I guess I've just always felt that my number one job as a mom is to make sure my kids are safe and that they know it! I'm sure all (most?) parents feel this way, and I'm not saying it's any certain parent's fault that a kid freaks out on a show, I'm just wondering why they do...

my son (4 at the time) hated it too...admittedly I didn't do my homework that first trip and also took him to stitch....he was so terrified, I didn't think he would do another ride that day
It is funny to see what rides he likes and hates from year to year - first year he liked HM, 2nd year hated it -it was too dark. first year he hated the drop in ToT, 2nd year he loved the drop but hated the ghosts in the preshow (FTR, he requested to go on it both times) first year hated snow white, 2nd year liked it

Kids are so funny
