Avoid Planet Hollywood

We traveled as a family to Orland in early May and were enjoying trying different restaurants each evening. My husband was anxious to try Planet Hollywood and I was anxious to revisit this restaurant. The service from the beginning was terrible! Our waitress's response to everything seemed to be "I'll be right back" :sad2: A request for drinks, then refills, then just crackers until she had time to take our order, etc etc etc. Not to return for several minutes, and then having forgotten what we needed. Finally by the end of the meal, we had to hunt down a manager just to get a ticket for dinner so we could pay and leave, as I had 2 children (5 years old each) literally falling asleep at the table. When I recounted all the details of our terrible dinner the first words out of the manager's mouth were "Well are you on the Disney Dinning Plan" said in a very demeaning way. I said no, and asked him what that would have to do with anything? He brushed off the question, got our ticket and didn't even apologize. I'm glossing over many of the issues we had with the waitress, with him, etc in the interest of time and space, however I think anyone considering eating here as part of their Disney Dinning Plan should think twice, because according to this manager you are due less service then regular paying patrons. I would also like to add that this was the night before we were headed to Magic Kingdom, my husband and children's first visit, and had us really dreading the upcoming encounter if this restaurant and its employees were representative of all Disney associates. I really would like to see the powers that be give from Disney give Planet Hollywood an attitude adjustment.

I should also mention that we checked a stroller when we went in for dinner, and left in such a huff that we didn't realize we forgot to take the stroller. The next morning we returned to Planet Hollywood and there sat our stroller left out for anyone to take outside the restaurants entrance. They couldn't even be bothered with taking this inside or to a lost and found area. What great service! :furious:

Wow. We are going there in early Oct, also on the DDP, at my daughters request. I sure hope that we have better luck than you did. Hopefully, all of your other meals were good. :hippie:

Im not going back there either. The music is blasting as soon as you walk in and the waiters/waitresses always mess up your order because they cant hear you. I had to wait 45 mins to get a table even though I had a adr. The food was mediocre and the whole time some cameraman was bothering the whole bottom part because he said he was getting clips for next month's big screen video.

I've never had a good experience at the one in DTD. That being said, I will not be redoing it at all. When there are so many other places to go that have great food and great service, why waste the time on a meal here?! OP I am sorry your meal was so disappointing.

it sounds as if the place hasn't got any better. we were there in dec2004 and the service was downright terrible then and we won't be back this year either. it felt to us that they just didn't care at all. sad for such a chain of resturaunts.

I would agree, the place is crowded and the music is blasting. It just seems as if it's an over priced burger place... There are way better places to eat at.

I made an ADR for our trip in August because of a free entree. I have been reading these past few weeks to stay away from Planet Hollywood. I think I will have to get with DH and let him know of the reviews and see what he thinks. We are staying at AKL, maybe I should think about eating at BOMA?

Now I'm second guessing myself on this one. I have ADR for 11/25 dinner because we were planning to go to DTD that day. Are there other places that aren't seafood there that you would suggest? We did Captain Jacks last year but wanted to try something different. We are staying at ASMo but would try another resort close to DTD. ANY AND ALL SUGGESTIONS WELCOME!! THANKS!! :)

We were there in March and the service was terrible. We were on the dining plan, plus had the free entree. Not including the wait for a table, we were there over 2 hours, most of that time was waiting.......... we wont go back! Food was pretty good, but not worth the wait.

As I'm reading thru everyone's responses I realize I didn't even mention the food quality. For $80 not including drinks, we received the same quality of food we could have gotten from the gas station on I-4. I remember from my previous trip eating at the Rain Forrest Cafe' and that was pretty good, if that's even still open in DTD. I'm glad I wasn't alone in this experience so maybe Disney will take our complaints seriously and address this issue with Planet Hollywood.

Bongos or Raglan Road. I can't say enough about either. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Sounds like you had a bad time, but it's not always like this.

We go every time we got to Disney World, and we've always had good service and food.

Yes it's loud and busy, but it is after all Planet Hollywood, it's meant to be that way.

All 6 of us enjoyed our meals, and my DW's sister said that the lasagne was the best she's ever eaten. It's not gourmet food, but again, you wouldn't expect fine dining at Planet Hollywood.

I would recommend eating at Boma anyway!! It's one of the best restaurants at Disney, and I'm sure you'll love it. :teeth:

I cant believe how many bad things i read about PH!

DH and are going in Sept and using our free meal voucher and thats about it! i wouldnt waste our TS credit to go there- thats for sure! :sad2:

We went back in December 2004, too and had a terrible time! The toilets were disgusting - they had a "cleaning in progress" sign out for the whole 2 hours we were there - but not an actual cleaner in sight! :sad2:

The food was edible, but not that good - I only had a burger.

Our server was ok, though - that was probably the best bit! :rotfl:

We won't be going back, either!

Thanks for sharing your experience, sorry it was not a good one. DH and I are on the dining plan and were going to go here to use our voucher. Doesn't even seem worth it...

Another vote for not going back to PH anytime soon. I would rather eat at Earl of Sandwich (good food! nice employees! decent prices!) than Planet Hollywood or Rainforest Cafe, two restaurants marketed as "experience-dining". Yeah, they're experiences alright - experiences in bad service, cold food, LOUD music/animals, stupidly looooooong waits, snooty attitudes.

I never say never, but...I doubt we'll ever go back to either. There are too many other places we enjoy around and in WDW to choose from (Boma, Dixie Crossroads, Artists' Point, Crystal Palace, Kimono's, etc., etc.).

agnes!

I had a horrible experience here, and I never even got inside! Let me start with a little background: We were a party of nine, and on my first phone call to make an ADR, I was told that the largest table seats six, so our party would be split and they could not guarantee that we would even be in the same section or floor of the restaurant. I called back, got a different reservation agent who told me it would be no problem to seat our party at two adjoining tables.

Well the day came to eat at PH, and we were at AK. On the recommendation of a CM at AK, we took the bus to the AKL (the nearest resort) to transfer to the DTD bus. Long story short... we left the park one and a half hours before our reservation time, and were still nearly 1/2 hour late. Meanwhile, three in our party were staying off-property, and took their car to PH. They told the guy at the podium that we were on our way and gave our ETA once we boarded the bus from AKL to DTD. Upon arrival, we were told that not only would our wait be 45 minutes, but our wait time did not begin until the ENTIRE party was there. Umm... hello? Why couldn't they begin our 45-minute wait time when they were told the rest of us would arrive in 20-25 minutes?? With 2 tired & hungry 2-year olds, this was not making anyone happy. THEN he dropped the real bomb... if we wanted to sit together, the wait time would be DOUBLE!!

We enjoyed a very nice meal at our resort, and were back in our rooms with the kids asleep by the time we would have been getting our food at PH. Based on the level of service before we even got inside, I will never attempt to eat there again.

Have had a good meal and good waiters at PH ,my wife and i always go every year and love the music and food but I guess its not for everyone. :cool1:
