Avoid Monorail at TTC to MK

We'be been waiting about 45 now for the Monorail starting at 7:45 AM. Seems like it's down from TTC to MK. Take the ferry. Line is insane.

So frustrating--sorry.

Unfortunately this has become a common issue, at least on our MK visits in the last couple of years. In the early morning our default now is just to take the ferry unless we see the monorail actually running.

It's been over an hour in line for the monorail. Would guest relations do something for us? I'm not one to make a stink and I know it's out of their control, but it's my four year old neice's first and only potential visit to Disney. I'm an annual passholder so I'm always here.

Sorry for that. It is so frustrating when you plan ahead and then it doesn't work out due to things out of your control.

As Praying Colonel started above you would be better served to get out of the monorail line and take the ferry. We were there two weeks ago and on two different days there were monorail issues.

It took us 40 min to get from the contemporary to the grand Floridian two nights ago. Packed trains, long delays, the doors didn't open at one stop for our car. Crazy stuff.

Thanks everybody. Should I bother going to guest relations? What could they do for us? Would they potentially give us some fast passes?

I probably would unless the line for Guest Relations is huge. I wouldn't want to spend any more time waiting in a big line.

I can wait in line while everybody else goes and does things. Is the only guest relations location at the front of the park? Not positive how it works in MK as I never had to use it.

Any time I've been there and there is an issue with the monorail, there are CMs directing people to the ferry and/or buses, was there nobody there doing that? If not, that would annoy me too.

There was eventually but you that time we were next to board and they were using the resort Monorail so we figured we'd wait.

As much as I LOVE the monorail, I too have found that it is pretty unreliable, which is especially disheartening since they went to the abbreviated schedule for the monorail supposedly to allow time for maintenance. I am beginning to wonder if those abbreviated hours are really for maintenance, or just money saving, or perhaps more a move in the direction of ending the monorails all together.

At any rate, I have found that when things are really busy, like at park opening, or closing, it is best to use the ferry. We will on occasion ride a monorail to one of the resorts for dinner, but never when it is in peak demand.

I wonder if the current monorails are starting to enter usable end of life. They have been in use since '89. I remember talking to cast members around '89 and they couldn't stand the switch from Mark IV to Mark VI. They said the old ones could be on fire and would still run. They said with the Mark VI a little bug in the wrong location could take them out. I can only imagine what they are like now to maintain.
