Avoid Magic mornings ??

Hi all

We will be visiting Disneyland during the last week of August next year and will have some of our stay onsite.

I see that everyday one of the parks offers Magic Mornings, and I was wondering whether it is best to attempt them everyday to get the most done, or whether its better to avoid them and opt for the opposite park? We are early risers, so expect we will make the opening of the non-magic hour park, even if we don't rush to get to the early start

At WDW we generally avoid EMH's as we find that the parks that have them seem busier (even first thing lately), than those without them - but that might just be me!

Can I ask what you tend to do please? Especially in late August?

Definitely use your MM's. It's quite different at DLR, especially at DCA where only onsite guests get early entry. The DL early entry will be busier but still well worth it, especially in late August when the parks are relatively slow.

I agree with the PP, definitely take advantage of them! Unlike WDW, parkhopping is super easy in DL, so people aren't necessarily going to stay in that one park all day. Plus, there are only 3 on-site hotels vs. the numerous on-site hotels at WDW, so there are fewer people during the extra hour as well. As the PP mentioned, the DL extra hour can get busy as they usually only open a small section of the park (often Tomorrowland and Fantasyland), and people with 3+ day parkhoppers will get one early entry to DL with their ticket. It's still worth it though, especially if there's a 7am early entry that you can make it in for!

In DCA, EMH is especially useful for Carsland and Midway Mania, which doesn't have FP like it does in WDW. I've always found Midway Mania to be pretty much a walk-on for the entire hour, rather than the 45+ minute wait it will usually be later in the day. Have fun!

We'd never miss a Magic Morning. You can get so much done first thing, it makes it much easier to take a break later in the day when all the late risers hit the park.

NO!! do NOT avoid the EMH (for on-site guests) or MM.....You will get lots done at that time. Parks will only get busier as the day goes on, so you will want to have been there from the beginning. DL MM will be more crowded because all those who have 3 day passes will have one MM at DL. while on-site guests only get the EMH for DCA.

Def don't miss MM. I like to use MM to do all of the non-FP rides. Which is mostly everything in Fantasyland.

The reason why EMH just seems more crowded at WDW is probably due to two reasons:

1. The fact that there are 20+ resort hotels with guests eligible as opposed to 3 here at DLR with an assorted group people with 3+ day park hoppers

2. At DLR people tend to do way more park hopping just based on convenience, whereas at WDW, people often select a park to go to and they stick with it. The "assigned EMH day" for each park probably makes people lean towards visiting that particular park on that day regardless of whether or not they make it in time for that hour.

Remember that Disneyland tends to be busier during their EMH as it is also open to non Disney hotel guests that have a special ticket.

Do not go on attractions that will waste your EMH time. For example, the Submarines.

At Disneyland make Fantasyland your top priority with Peter Pan being first. Only if you are one of the first inside the park.

At Disneyland, once the park opens head to the Adventureland and Frontierland attractions as most of the incoming guests will be headed towards Fantasyland.

At California Adventure, once the park opens finish all of Paradise Pier as most guests head to Cars Land when the park opens.

I always avoid early entry. This last trip we decided to do it one day because it was so hot out... and to me it was not worth it. I will stick to being there for rope drop on the non early entry park. Seems to work best for our crew.
