Avis unlimited cashless tolls

Hi,

We purchased Avis unlimited cashless tolls for $65.

When we got into the car we noticed a transponder.

Do we have to now open the transponder? No one mentioned that to us.

Or, do we just drive through tolls and it’s on the plate?

Given the general chatter on this board with regard to rental company e-tolls, you may not get an answer from someone with experience with this.

My feeling is if the car has an actual transponder like you say yours does, leave it open and do not depend on toll-by-plate. However, if you want the correct answer, your best bet is probably to contact Avis and ask.

You are supposed to leave the transponder open. It's probably in the fine print that toll by plate is not covered by your agreement.
