Avis or Limo for return to MCO?

I am renting a car from Avis to get to get to the port (staying at the Radisson the night before). I am considering whether to rent a car or hire a limo for the return to MCO after the cruise. The cost will be about $30 more for the limo.

Our flight is at 12:30pm and I want to make sure we get there on time. I am concerned about the time it takes to get our luggage, get the shuttle to the Radisson and stand on line for the rental car. Mostly I am concerned about there being a crowd at the Avis rental counter (I have been on some very long car rental lines at other locations)

Could some of you experienced Avis renters tell me about the lines you have encountered on Saturday morning after the cruise? Will I have enough time to get to the airport without rushing?

Also, is there really any advantage to renting a car after the cruise, considering when my flight is,or should I just get the limo?

We just returned from a 4 day Wonder and did the limo through FL Tours. For me it was well worth the extra money for the limo. Getting off the ship and finding your luggage is the easiest thing you will ever do. It took all of 15 minutes to disembark, get our luggage and walk out to the parking area where the limo was meeting us. Actually the limo pickup was for 8:45 and we were outside by 8:15. We had an 11:10 Am flight which we made no problem at all. After spending all that money on a cruise my opinion is whats another $30.00 to give you peace of mind and end your vacation in a non hurried, low stress, one last piece of luxury before back to reality way!!!!

Hi,

I have almost the same situation and am wondering what would be best. Our flight is at 11:45 am. We normally rent from Avis to and from MCO when I travel with DH. This trip will be a girls only trip - myself, DD (7) and my elderly Mom. I don't relish the thought of handling all the luggage myself. I am also debating whether or not to have a car service for the 3 legs of our journey. We arrive the day before and will be heading to AKL for one evening.

I really am leaning toward the car service just for the ease of it all. It's quite a bit more than Avis but I think the convenience will be worth every penny. Still planning.....

We went with the limo (round trip from WDW to DCL). For me, as the driver, it was great & we figured it was a vacation so the extra money was worthwhile, I actually go to talk to everybody instead of worrying if I would miss my turnoff.

I'm staying until Sunday, picking up the rental car at the port and going to Seaworld on Saturday. Why not enjoy the rest of the weekend?

Our travel agent suggested a limo. Great idea it seems. No rental care return, curbside pick-up and dropoff. It's vacation. Relax! Splurge!

There are 10 of us and we hired a van through "Happy Limo". You can hire a van, town car or limo, whatever you prefer and their prices are great. Plus, you don't have to do the driving. You can do one way or round trip. You'll even get a discount if you book on-line. Just go to "www.happylimo.com". You can also take the Disney Shuttle one way back to the airport and you don't have to decide ahead of time.

Definitely hire a limo, but do not use Tiffany. Our experiences with them have been horrible.

I have heard good things about Happy Limo. We plan to use them on our next trip.

We have used Avis for the return to MCO three different times. Twice the line was fine and we were on the road with the rental by 9:45 am (we got off the ship at 9:00).

Once, though the line was extremely long and we were on the road by 10:30. If it is just the three of you hire the limo and enjoy!!!

If you ask my wife - I am always taking the other side! So, it's no surprise that I chime in with another choice.

Take the Disney Shuttle!

The video taking you home helps unwind you (and it's kind of fun!) and it's just as quick (if not quicker) than fretting over meeting a driver or hoofing it to a rental car place and dropping off...

We've always taken the bus and arrived at the airport around 9-9:30 when we've been in a hurry.
