Really? I got a one-day rental for about $40 total for a full-sized car in December. That's no more expensive than it was last time I did an MCO pick-up and a P3F drop off, and in fact it may even be CHEAPER. Where did you hear that they are charging more?
I just did (5 minutes ago) a quote on Avis.com and got a full size for a total of $37, including tax, and there was no penalty for returning to a different location.
Have you tried any of the codes on Mousesavers? http://www.mousesavers.com/groundtrans.html
I was given a van rate MCO-P3F of $50 using code D002807.
It might be worth a try.
Try the other advice already posted before giving up on Avis. But to answer your question, yes, there are other car rental agencies near the port. I have a summary of these options at my web site...
Also, if you have the Entertainment book that will help. I have an intermediate reserved for $25.19 from Mco with a double upgrade coupon from the book which will give me the larger full size. From the Raddison I have the same size car but for three days for $107 You need to keep checking Avis's website, they raise and lower their prices every so often.
Good Luck
