When all is said and done, about how much can I expect to spend on a dinner for two? I want to know not so much because I can't afford it, but because I am cheap.:rolleyes1 But we will be on our honeymoon, and It is something I want to do for my new wife.

So, I need to prepare myself as I don't want to start crying at the table when the bill comes.

P.S. We will be doing the wine pairing as well.

You may want to sit down....;)

My dh and I spent over $400 when we went for our honeymoon 5 yrs ago, with the wine pairings and tip.

According to http://allears.net/menu/menu_va.htm it's $125 pp plus another $60pp for the wine pairings. We tipped at least 20% b/c the service was amazing.

Congrats on your (soon to be) marriage!

LOL, why not just plan $500 plus then you could include any of the extras offered that evening if you want!

I'm curious as to if it's worth it too. $500 is almost a month's rent. Not sure if a meal is worth that much.

Was it a delicious meal and how long did it take from start to leaving the restaurant? thanks:thumbsup2

Figure the dinner for two with the wine pairings plus a 20% tip plus sales tax comes to $468.05.

Here is a link to a recent (July 2008) menu at V&A.

And, yes, it is definitely worth the money. Not necessarily to do on every trip, but at least for real special occasions.

And they tend to figure that most people will take about 2½ hours for the meal.

No meal is worth that much money!!!
I would actually be mad at my husband if he took me to V&A's. There are many wonderful, elegant restaurants at WDW that cost a fourth of V&A that provide an amazing food and experience.
Admittedly, I have not eaten there. My sister and her husband celebrated their anniversary there, and had a wonderful meal, but not THAT wonderful.
JMHO. If you are prepared to drop that much on a meal, ENJOY!!!!!!

DF and I went there for Valentine's Day in 2007 (we called the day the reservations became available) and it was $230ish I think? I can't remember. It was worth EVERY penny. We didn't do the wine pairing though.

Not something you do all the time but a honeymoon is a SPECIAL occasion!!

The service is TOP notch and the food was great. It was a class act. You get customized menus, the women get roses (I'm assuming the roses weren't just for Valentine's Day) and it's fun to get dressed up.

I think you should do it - it's special.

Here's some photos for your viewing pleasure:

Worth every cent and no there is no restaurant within a couple hundred miles with comparable food. The closest would be in either Palm Beach/Miami area with several or Jax with 1 and Amelia Island with 1.

Most normal chefs wouldn't even know how to prepare some of the ingredients I've had there.Prices are seriously in line with the quality of the experience which can last 2+ hours.Compare prices in LA,Manhattan,Tokyo or other major cities worldwide and it is actually a bargain.

I agree with the quality of the food and service, equal to worlds best dining experiences. Cost is probably fair when compared to other establishments capable of same high standards.
The old addage, "If you have to ask how much, you probably should not go" seems to apply. It is certainly not for everyone but V&A has no issue selling out nightly.

While it's not something you can do all the time, Victoria & Albert's is one of the best restaurants we've ever been to, and we live near Chicago that boasts numerous 5 diamond restaurants. It is an excellent place to celebrate a very special event in your life - and we plan on doing just that for our upcoming 20th Anniversary. :cloud9:

We just did dinner at V&A this past Friday. Our bill with wine pairing for my husband and with a couple of extras like the kobe beef and the turbot with tip came up to $489.
Considering the question some of you asked as to whether it was worth it. This is my take - Can we afford it? How often would we do it? And the answer is, yes, keeping both in mind - it was worth it. The atmosphere, the service, the food - it was a very very nice experience. The food was good, it was not everyday food that you can get at just any expensive restaurant. This was the first time we spent so much on a meal for just the two of us, but it was a great experience and we were glad we did it.
If anyone can afford it, then I strongly recommend go, experience it.

It is SO worth the money. DH and I have been several times and each time is a wonderful experience. On our last visit in Feb., we spent over $400. But, I did the wine pairing and also got one of the specialty dishes (yummy abelone!).

One note about the wine pairings- it's a LOT of wine. I suggest you order one wine pairing for both of you (DH and I did this and they didn't blink). Otherwise, you may not feel at your best come the end of dinner, and you don't want to miss out on dessert!!!!

Have fun!

Victoria and Albert's does not compare with any restaurant on Disney property ... it's not even close.

To echo others who have already posted here, it's one of the finest meals we've had the pleasure to enjoy and it's definitely worth the money although certainly not something that we can afford to do on every trip to WDW. I'd say you should budget about $500 for the entire evening (including tip).

It's an adult experience - the only true adult dining experience you can have at WDW any longer. The dining room is very elegant and they have a wonderful harpist playing throughout the evening. The service is very attentive without being intrusive and the food is amazing - you will not see meals prepared like this anywhere else at WDW.

I think it's a lovely gift that you're offering your new wife - go and enjoy yourself and have a wonderful evening.

I have to second it, it is well worth it. The memories for everyone. My DH and I went on our 20th anniversary and then 6 years ago we took my daughter and 3 of her friends for her 16th birthday. It is a meal they still talk about. It is a fantasy for most kids to have service like that. It so happened that one of the girls name was Victoria and one of the waitresses gave her their name tag. when the girls come over they still talk about the different type of food that they ate and how they clean the table and all 6 of us are served at the exact same time. there is always one server for each person at the table and they place your plate in front of you at the same time. Amazing!!! Looking forward to another visit in a few years.

Actually the food is only part of the experience. Atmosphere and time together add into the equation.
For whatever it is worth, I have spent way more then $500 for a sporting event or concert so I stick with my original statement, V&A experience is not for everyone and value is in the eye of the beholder.:rotfl:

1) As one matures, you can appreciate
. . . good food
. . . excellent presentation
. . . fantastic service
. . . slow and progressive dining
2) These are things that are going away at WDW, mainly due to DDP.
3) So, is V&A worth the cost?

4) I guess "it is in the eyes of be older".
