Average Souvenir Cost

I'm wondering how much one pays on average in the parks for souvenirs*. I understand that this is subjective and where one spends $10 on a balloon another can spend $1,000 on a painting. I'm talkin' average Joe kind of things. Shirts, hoodies, ears, and so on. I'm also asking for the average monetarily. I am also aware that there are different price points for the same type of things.

I'm putting together my budget and I'm just looking for a starting place since I don't know what is realistic. If 100 people spend about $20 per souvenir, then I know that $20 per per/per item is a good jumping off point.

*please note that I am not trying to get so personal as to get all up in your pocket book and ask for an itemized list of how much you decided was right to spend for your family. I'm just looking for a very general, average price.

Thanks for any help you're able to offer. The budget has been the hardest part of the planning process for me having never been before. It's hard to know what we'll realistically spend!

Personally, I don't spend over $100.00 for anything. That's me, personally. The souvies I aim for like a heat seeking missile are the pins. I have a boatload. There are a few things that I purchased that were within the $25 - $100 range, but those are the exceptions. On the "moderate" side I purchased a Mickey Head bird feeder in MGM for my bird-loving mom and I got a Mickey Hatted garden flamingo for my daughter. I did buy a couple of snow globes, but that's about it.

I don't usually buy anything while at Disney but I am really into Disney T-Shirts so I always look at them and check prices. The good ones are usually close to $30. But I buy all mine off the Disney store online not in the parks.

I have bought several hoodies but over at Universal and Island of Adventure not at Disney and they were $50 each. The hoodies I have seen the prices of at Disney are about the same price range $45-$60 per hoodie.

I spend about $400-$500 on souvies each trip. It just adds up! I usually pick up 1-2 tees., a hoodie, a couple of pins, a plush, a sketch if 2...etc.,,, thus upcoming trip I want to pick up 1-2 tees, maybe a hoodie/jacket if I get cool in the evening , a few pins and maybe a few pricer collectible pieces.

I always buy t-shirts for every park, spending between about $20-$30 per shirt, and a Christmas ornament for about $15. The most expensive souvenir I ever bought was a Cinderella Castle snowglobe for $40. I usually won't go over $50 for anything, and try to talk myself out of anything over $30.

I tried to keep our souvenir budget for our last trip to $250 for my family of four....we ended up spending about $750. This included a new Disney Dooney, a new iPhone case, a soccer jersey for DH from England...several stuffed animals for our daughters, a new Ariel dress for one of our girls, a ton of new pins...and some other odds and ends....

Oh well, next time...we'll stick to $250. :rotfl2:

do you remember where you got the bird feeder?? I'm hoping to. bring back.something bird or garden related for my mom on our upcoming trip.

Yes I do! I got it in MGM in the shop next to the camera store. I also got my DD's flamingo there as well. I love that store. It took about a week for the birds to get acclimated to it but the squirrels took to it right away! It's made out of cast iron, in shape of a Mickey Head, and has a yellowish glass bowl for the seeds.

I do this too. We are 4 ppl, 2 young kids. Spending can easily get out of hand. I buy ahead of time, pack it away and when they start asking for stuff, I give them the stuff I brought. Surprised them all along the trip! they loved it... Got glow wands/bracelets, mickey tattoos, glitter tattoos, brought tiaras and dresses for my daughter and other little things. I actually will buy plushies I know my kids want ahead of time, while they are on sale at the store, then bring them with me and surprise them! haha I am lucky though bc I have a Disney Outlet Store 10 mins from my house.

We give the kids a limit and once its gone, its gone. Some people say give them cash bc they can physically see how much they have left and some say use gift cards. We used the gift cards and it worked out pretty well. $25/ea.

To give you some ideas of pricing...
The classic ear hats are like $16.95 or so and up. they have a ton of styles so look around bf you purchase! You can get the minnie ear headbands for about the same. But they have some really adorable designer type ones, which are more expensive. I got my daughter a pair online and you can switch out the bow and everything so those worked out fabulous for us. Lots cheaper too! They also have really nice hats with ears on them too- like the sorcerer mickey with ears on it. I think that was like $30.

T-shirts I would say you'd be hard pressed to find one under $20.
Hoodies are really up there. I'd say - $40+

I always get a magnet ($6-10) or a shot glass ($5+) and an ornament ($10). Something little. I got myself a minnie hi-ball glass with my name etched on it and a cute bracelet. I think the bracelet was like $8-9 and the glass was around $15.

Pins really vary in price. You can get some for like $10+ depending on how fancy you want it to be. We just started the kids on their pin collections this past trip and they got some new ones from "Santa" at Christmas. ;)

I'm not into overspending. I think we spent $200 MAYBE total on souvenirs. But then again- I plan ahead. I'm not spending $10-15 on a balloon or an annoying light up thing that will either break or be lost before the end of the trip. It really all depends on your personality and what you hope to buy. I am a planner but also can be impulsive so I plan ahead to have some extra $$ for that.

:flower3:Have fun!!!

I'm afraid to add it up for an exact total but we spent at least 1000$ this trip on souvenirs and I wouldnt be the least bit shocked if it were a few more 100 than that. There were 2 adults and a 6 year old. I'd say the average cost per souvenir was 25-45$. The most expensive thing we bought was I think 65$. We bought things like stuffies, clothing, mugs, cups, snow globes, toys, picture frames, candy, ears, hats, shoes, earrings, and other random Disney paraphernalia. Soooooo much stuff hahaha. Getting it home was comical.

Our last trip I bought ears for DD and I ($18?), a handful of pens that were less than $10 each, a polo for my husband who couldn't go with us ($45?) and more pins than I'd like to admit. ;) I bought a pair of earings because I'd left my diamond studs at home (afraid I'd lose them) but I felt weird with no earrings, but they were just costume dangly mickey heads, maybe $12?

I upgraded to PP+ (We were there the first day it was available) and I honestly think that's it. DD bought more stuff but she had her own money so I'm not entirely sure what she bought.

Oh, the purchase-with-purchase item was a watch, I think I got it for $15 because DD was buying a skirt at the RnRC giftshop along with something else, so I tossed it in and paid her back.

I'm not a huge souvineer fan, though. I care far more about photos than stuff.

We are a family of 6, and we estimate our souvenir spending at ~$500 per trip. The kids are given a budget within that for what they can spend for the trip, and they oftentimes also bring some of their own money (which we don't include in that total). This last trip we were just about at that $500, but we did some pricier things we hadn't done in the past:

Got a framed sketch at DD: ~$100
(4) of us girls did the Pick-a-Pearl in Epcot: $65.00

The rest was spent on apparel (hoodies/t-shirts, a balloon, a couple of pins, personalized mickey ears for the 2 kids that didn't have their's yet, and some stuffed animals). The $500 estimate did not include the Photo Pass CD that we purchased in advance ($119).

We went in with a budget for the kids (as stated above), but DH and I didn't really find much that we liked so we ended up overspending on the kids knowing that we had already set aside the money. However, on our trip in May we came nowhere near the $500 budget...we just weren't that interested in what they had to offer, and we kept the kids within their budgets too (I think we were closer to $200 or so).

It just depends on what you buy, and most people already detailed the average costs for many things.

When my wife and I honeymooned at WDW, we didn't really budget for souvenirs. We just bought what we wanted. There were a couple of times where I wanted some of the Disney/Star Wars busts that were north of $100, but I always talked myself out of it.

We spent about $500 on souvenirs, I'd say. Which is about $300 more than I would have suggested we budget for, heh.

But it's my fault: My idea of buying one pin per park and per resort quickly imploded on itself, because we ended up buying about 40 pins.

I have spent as little as nothing and sometimes over $1000, but for my typical 10 day trips I usually budget between $300-$500 for souvenir spending. Sometimes I spend all of it, sometimes I come home with most of it. It really depends more on what they have on offer during the trip. Last trip I bought a really nice gold Mickey ring that took up my entire souvenir budget. The trip before that all I bought was a new tee shirt. The trip before that I bought a couple plush. Those trips I had lots of souvenir money to bring home.

Maybe look at the Disney Store website under the parks merchandise to get an idea of what might be there and the prices. That way you could get an idea of what you might spend in general and plan around that.

My kids each have $100 and we will get them a set of ears. I plan on getting a coffee mug, tshirt, Chamila bead, and I really really want a topiary but I have to talk the husband into having mickey in our yard, so that would be $150ish. I always talk myself out of buying things though. Last time I wanted a mug with the Seagulls from nemo that said "mine mine mine" on it and I didn't get it. I still wish I had and its been 5 years. So back on topic lol....500$ for the family for just souvenirs sounds right for us.

I think $25 per child is reasonable. As this is our third trip in three years I am hoping to stay under $100. In the say I've bought a lot of things that end up collecting dust. Disney shirts and hoodies are adorable but very unstylish where I live. So I try to avoid adult clothing, buy my little girl a hat or stuffie and mugs for myself.

I spent about $50? last time. Brought a Eeyore stuffed toy that I saw in the Winnie The Pooh gift shop and fell in love with and a few bits from the outlet store offsite.

I usually give my daughter $30 a day in gift cards. She can use it or save it for a bigger expense another day, that's up to her. But, I do buy her T-shirt that we get each trip for her.

I always spent around 100 bucks. 1-2 t-shirts, maybe a hoodie and one or random things. I always wanted 300-500 dollars worth of stuff...but when I thought about it I realized it would be a waste. There were neat things but I would have never really enjoyed them after a week or 2. Good luck!
