Average souvenier prices

I am figuring budget money for our upcoming trip, and trying to guage how much to give the kids per day for souveniers. Does anyone know how much the average kid souvenier is in the parks? I am having baskets made up for them which will include ears, an autograph book, and a plush so they will not need those. More along the lines of teeshirts, light up toys, etc.. I was thinking about $15 day per child(I have 3) Does this seem like a good estimate?

I think that's a good amount. T-shirts might run a few more bucks though, depending on the style... The light up toys should be in that price range - the spinning ones are $14.50, I think and the light up necklaces were less, maybe $8 or $10? They also have little toys that are in that range, like a buzz lightyear car, etc...

We were just there last week. My kids shirts were right at $20 each. They saved their own money and had it to spend how they wanted. They refilled their money we each time we left the room...never leaving without $20-$25. They both came home with money too...so I can't complain.

Thanks for the replies! Does anyone know how much the pressed penny book, and Epcot passport are? These are the 2 things that I will personally buy them.

I think I am just going to give the 2 older ones a $75 disney gift card, and buy the 2 year old a few extra things.

When my kids were young, they were given $30 for the entire trip. If they were to buy clothing (t-shirt, hat, etc), I would pay for 1/2 out of my own money (e.g. an $18 t-shirt would cost them $9 from their money).

They were extremely careful about what they chose to buy. We ended up without a lot of junk to clutter the floor. They each (as college students) still display some of the items they bought over the years since they made some very grown-up type selections knowing they could only afford one or two nice items.

I think they had more fun making the right shopping selection knowing that they had limited funds than if they had a pocket overflowing with money.

I know I was happier!

I am not giving my kids a "per day" amount. I too am going with the gift card and also opted for $75.00 each. I think we will shop the last day there.....in downtown disney......before we head home.......that way we don't have to carry bags since we are staying offsite

We also didn't give them a "per day" amount. Generally, I buy everyone sweatshirts and I also use to get them each 2 pins (there not into that since they became teens) and then my kids are allowed 1 major souviner (I can never spell this word. ). Since we generally go for 11 days, we strongly advise them to wait until we've hit every park before they make a final suggestion.

....for a souvenir(sp?) in WDW is waaay too much. But when has that ever
stopped any of us? My suggestion is not to go overboard. Maybe one
per trip. If you go back again and again, there's no need to load up. Have
a BLAST.

There's also a souvenir place in Downtown Disney (Mickey's Mart???) that has souvenirs for around $10 or less. As for the glow necklace, I plan on buying that at Wal-Mart before we leave home on our trip. They have a package of 3 for less than $2. No way I'm spending $8 or more on one glow necklace there.

I didn't give my 3 kids a per day amount. I give them them $50-75 per trip depending on the length of stay and their behavior. They got to pick out what they wanted the last day. Unless, they specifically wanted an in park item like a MK shirt etc. They also get random "bonuses" for good deeds or extra good behavior and $ penalties for bad behavior. It worked out well except the youngest whined everytime she got $ taken away or someone else got a bonus, cuz they had more than her. That part was a pain! So, next time, the whining and complaining will be a penalty.
