This may to much of a personal question, but I was just curious on how much people spend on a vacation to Disney World. Including travel expenses, hotel, food, souviniers, tickets, and anything else that is a vacation expense. I was just curious because I am trying to plan our vacation and I think it seems a little rediculious to me the amount we will have to spend, and we only have 3 people in our family! My husband, me and our 3 year old son. Mabye I am trying to do to much or something. I don't know. Our vacation consists of a 4 day cruise with carnival and 4 days at Disney world.

I don't think it's so much that it's a personnal question as much as it is a very varied question:eek:

It all depends on so many things - are you traveling staying at a value resort? moderate?Deluxe?Concierge? HAFH/DVC? Are you flying and renting a car? or Driving? Do you intend to eat out for every single meal?and if so, do you intend to eat at all sit down resturaunts, food courts/fast food, a combo of them all? Or will you be staying in a HAFH/DVC and cooking some meals in? If staying concierge, would you use the food provided by concierge? Is this your first or 2nd trip or you haven't been to WDW in years and intend to buy lots of souveniers or have you been once a year and souveniers aren't high on your list?

As you can see there are just too many different senarios that would and will change a person's budget and or spending so it's not really an easy question to answer.

The best way I can recommend to save up if that's what you're trying to ask would be to determine how much and what you intend spending on and then take it from there.

Sorry if this wasn't much help but unfortunatly, you've kind of asked a loaded question:crazy:

Well, this is my plan:

Driving:
Gas there and back - $200
Gas there - $40

Tickets:
3 day Park Hopper Plus 2 adults - $370
2 day Park Hopper Plus 1 child - $110

Hotel:
Prineline Hotel for 4 nights for no more than $250

Food:
No more than $300

Babysitter:
$150

Than we are going on a cruise with Carnival for no more than $1000

Snorkeling and Swimming with Dolphins: $400
Spa: $200
Tips: $100
Casino: $150
Extra spending money for Disney and Cruise: $250

Totals $3520

From what I've seen on other boards, this seems reasonable. I think for what we are doing, it will be worth the money.

I agree with Scoootch. There are so many variables it's a tough question to answer. Have you visited the budget board? There are some good tips there on how to save money. There may even be some good discount codes you may be able to use. Even if you already have ressies somewhere, from your counter, it looks like you're still far enough out that you can make some small changes to your plans if you find a better deal. You should also visit mousesavers.com and disneydollarless.com for lots of tips and discount codes as well.

I hope this helps!

Oops! Cokegal19, we posted at almost the same time.

I was just wondering, where are you getting pricing for park hopper plus passes for 2 and 3 days? I thought those were only available as 4,5,6, or 7 days only. Also, why would you buy a 3-day pass for yourself and a 2-day pass for your child? Sorry that part isn't making sense to me.

www.discountorlandovacation.com has 3 day park hopper plus for $185.00 per person. I bought them there in May when we went. And I am buying my husband and I a 3 day and my son a 2 day because one of the days we are getting a babysitter and my husband and I are going to go to the parks on our own so that we can ride the "big kid" rides together. I heard a lot of good things about fairy godmothers, so i think we'll try them for a babysitter.

i am really trying to think what would be the best vacation for us. We really want to do some sort of blue water/snorkeling/dolphin swim/carribean type cruise thing. and we also really want to do disney for our son and of course for us! And we also really want to do Universal studios and Halloween Horror Nights!!!! I'm thinking i might do the disney/universal/discovery cove instead of the cruise and disney. So that way we can get all three things that we want to do without going on the cruise. it will still end up costing pretty much the same, so i'm still not sure what i want to do.

Disisions, Disisions, Disisions!!!!

My MIL and SIL did the Discovery Cove Dolphin experience in May and really loved it. DH and I would like to do it too but we will probably wait until DS is old enough to do it with us.

It does sound like you have your work cut out for you with all the choices available. Whatever you decide, I'm sure you'll have a great time.

Here is my breakdown. Family of 4 two adults and 2 kids ages 5 and 6.

7 days (2 are free) park hoppers while there and the prince and princess add on= $1719

Plane tickets= 594

towncar=120

food and souviners=$1500

For our family of three...

4-night land (AKL)/3-night sea (cat. 4), plus air and insurance $5000 (rounded)

We'll probably bring about $1000-$1500 spending money for food, souveniers, shore excursions, drinks, etc.

Yikes....

Next vacation I think will be a Royal Caribbean cruise. It works out to MUCH less!

I am taking my 2 yr old right before she turns 3 so we don't have to pay for her hopper ticket or character meals. We also just moved into a new house so I cut corners and looked for the best deals, rebooked my rental car 3x and rebooked Southwest 2 times for the lowest price...

First night at a cheap hotel or All Stars - still undecided. No more than $77 including taxes.

Old Key West one bedroom villa - $900 including taxes for 8 days
(I could have gotten a studio for $750 but chose the extra for separate bedroom and kitchen)

Southwest rountrip plane tickets: 3 for $338 including taxes

rental car (full size) from Dollar: 8 days for $179 including taxes/charges

2 adult 7 day hopper plus (4 extra days) passes: $628 including taxes.

I guess we will spend no more than $1000 for food, 2 character meals and some minor extras.

This in total is no more than $3000 for 9 days 8 nights taking into consideration we will only be using half of our hopper passes which will reduce next trip. It pays to buy the biggest hopper ticket if you plan to go again. They never expire or you can resell the extra days on ebay. We are taking 1 or 2 rest days to actually relax by the pool and do downtown disney etc.. We are also going grocery shopping for cereal, frozen waffles for breakfast, lunchmeat, pb&j for afternoon dd's nap breaks and some small snacks, water etc.. to bring w/ us to save money. I also will be taking individual packs of Crystal light and asking for free water to save on drinks. dd drinks water all day or very diluted juice anyway so that helps too. I have purchased 75% off little toys and stuff at Disney Store to give dd here and there to make her feel like she is getting gifts there. That saves a ton of money!!

Well hope some of this helps you! In my opinion, it pays to look around and find the best deals. Good Luck!!!

Ok, now I got it ALL figured out:

For 9 days:

Richard Petty Driving: $400
Discovery Cove: $480
Sitter: $300
Hotel: $575
Gas: $240
Universal: $200
Disney: $370
Food: $650
Halloween H.N.: $115
Extra: $300

Total: $3,630

I think that's good considering all the extras we'll be doing (Richard Petty, Discovery Cove, H.H.N., and a sitter)
