Is there or has there been a thread or poll about number of points owned? I am curious what the average is across all resorts and all members. Not per contract or resort, but per membership. I have searched and could not find anything about this previously.

I had a guide once tell me its about 320

I think there have been several "how many points do you have posts". Some got answers by total and some by resort. In my case I have 370 in my name and access to the 150 I put in my daughter's name so a total of 520 over 3 memberships as there are 3 separate contracts. Technically I have 370 points and that averages to 185 per contract if that is what you are asking. If you are asking how many I have as a "member" then it is 370. If you are asking per contract then it is 220 and 150. If you take all the points divided by the number of contracts you will get a much different number than if you take the total number of points divided by the number of members since many members have multiple contracts. Then throw in the ones like we have where one is in two names and one is my name only to complicate what constitutes a membership. Some members have as few as 25 points and some in the thousands. I would guess that somewhere there is information on the total number of points sold and the total number of contracts so you could find the info that way. Maybe someone has done the figuring from the Orange County Comptrollers Office website already but I don't remember seeing it before. Good luck with your search for this info. It is an interesting question.

I would not trust a guide on this topic. He/she was playing to your emotions to try to get you to buy more points. After all, who wants to be below average?

It's really all a matter of public record because it's all at the Registrar of Deeds in Orange Co.

Now... who wants to volunteer to go do a quick count for us? Won't take long! :cool1:

I think 250 is comfortable.... if you need more in any given year you can always rent them....

When we bought our points, I looked at the BLT point chart and thought about the time of year we would go. I knew we would probably not go during Premier Season. I also knew that we would want a 1 BR. So, at that time one week in a standard view 1 BR during Magic Season was 270 points. So, I knew 270 points would be enough for a week any time we wanted to go. We bought during the first webcast and the incentive was higher if you bought over 270 points, so we decided on 275. So far, it has been more than enough.

Interesting two of the three threads posted show ~300 points is the average, the third shows an even split and highest averages 14-15% have either 150, 200 and 750pts.
