Average cost of todays wedding?

This has been an enlightening post!! :thumbsup2 I have been a little put out over transportation costs as well. Does anyone have sage advice on how to handle this if I have a 9am wedding in Italy courtyard with a 10-11 pre-reception and reception 11-2 at the Boardwalk Attic? I would like a DP but it is not in my BEO and it looks like mega transportation costs again!! Most of my guests will be staying at OKW with one family offsite and maybe some couples at BW.

Also, how does having a bridal room to ready in with time most of the day help you to avoid the limo? I thought they very much frowned on walking into EPCOT for a Wishes wedding?

I am also striving to keep equal to my minimums! So far, I have 42 guests for a brunch at the Attic, Mickey and Minnie, and a MK photo shoot the same day as the wedding. I have outside video and photog. and I am paying for a welcome party at the OKW pool the night before the wedding. :teacher:

We're having an Escape wedding with 10-13 people including us, all from the UK except one. We are coming in at $6300 which includes well over $1000 for an outside photographer (Randy Chapman :worship: :worship: ), officiant, lunch at the GF Cafe and dinner at either the Yachtsmans or Le Cellier, and an extra hour on the limo.

When you add everything else like my dress, hair and make up, suit hire, flights, 2 weeks at Disney, 1 week off property, 3 weeks with a Durango (I know, I know, Disney transportation and all that but I don't ever get chance to drive beasts of cars unless I'm on holiday) and all the other 'little' extras we are looking at under $14000.

I think that is brilliant for the wedding and honeymoon of our dreams :thumbsup2

We told the immediate people we wanted to go to the wedding what we were doing and where and they all said they are definitely coming. We have 3 that I don't feel will go due to money but the main people we want there will be going.

All our guests presumed that they would be paying for their own meals which I found a bit strange, and that they would have to get themselves moved around to the reception. Perhaps we should have let them carry on with that one, it would have saved us quite a bit of money!

This is almost exactly what we did - 9am in Epcot (Morocco), 10-11 pre-reception and 11-2 reception at the Attic. Unfortunately, we also found ourselves restricted on transportation by using an in-park venue, and I don't know if I can help you lower those costs.

If your guests are all staying at just 2 resorts, you could use a one-way bus instead of a charter bus. It's not a huge savings - $390 for the first 5 hours and $80 for each additional vs. $446.25 for the first 5 hours and $89.25 for each additional (these are 2007 prices) - but it might help.

One girl rode the bus into Epcot before it picked up her guests, eliminating the need for a limo. However, that might bump you into charter bus territory - don't know...

We also hired a Friendship Boat to take us from Morocco to the BoardWalk even though we'd paid for the bus already. So nixing that would have saved $250 (but it was TOTALLY worth it!).

I can't figure out any way that hiring a getting-ready room would help avoid the limo - you still have to get to the room and from the room to the site (plus, it's like $500 to hire the room and only $150 for a limo).

You can't walk into EPCOT for the wedding b/c it's not open yet, but you can walk in for the DP. If you had your guests get themselves to the International Gateway, you could avoid andother $450 (my 2007 cost) for a charter bus...

HTH! :thumbsup2

Our day is timed like yours. 9:00 ceremony in Italy and then 10:00 prereception and 11:00 to 3:00 at ADH for our reception. We are having 3 resorts (All Star Movies, POFQ and Boardwalk). My question is what time did your bus have to start picking up people. I am thinking maybe 7:30am but that sounds so early.

Thanks,
Linda

I just wanted to add that after reading about Lurkyloos transportation issues we only chose two resorts for our room block to make it easier. Our planner said that would take off about an hour before and after the wedding.

Hi! Our schedule was

Contemporary: 7:30
All-Star Music: 7:50
BoardWalk Inn: 8:10
PO French Quarter: 8:25

But I moved each time up by 10 minutes on the schedule I gave people to make sure no one missed it.... and then everyone complained about how long the bus sat around before it left! :rotfl:

FABULOUS! :thumbsup2

Thanks for the info on the bus times at the different resorts.

My planner said that that would be the sequence of resorts also - but we did not speak about times.

All Star Movies
Boardwalk
POFR

This seems strange to me because The Boardwalk is right next to Epcot - I would think that would be the last stop. I'll have to check out a map of the entire property.

Thanks again,
Linda

They arrange the bus schedule according to route, so even though it may not seem to make sense to us, it's based on the shortest distance between the points. For example, our limo ride from Beach Club to Epcot seemed like it should only take a few minutes because they're right next to each other. But the limo had to drive all the way out Epcot Resorts Blvd. and around to the back-it took about 15 minutes.
