Getting ready for our trip in June, and starting to think about how much it will cost us each day... There will be 5 of us total, but i am only paying for myself an my son. We already have our tickets with park hoppers, and we will be there for 6 days. Not including ticket costs, or hotel costs, how much on average do you spend in the parks per day?

As a single adult in the parks... I would say around $40 for myself. This is for food and if I wanna buy a pin, hat or something else its there. But how old is your son? If you eat in the parks childrens meals are cheaper then adult meals, and he might want to buy something. I would budget around $70 in the park each day for both of you if your trying to savor your money.

grandson and I have budgeted 100.00 a day for the parks. eating good food port Orleans monte cristo , treats, breakfast lunch and dinner.
He has been saving for the toys he wants, I have taught my kids, if you want that toy it comes out of your money, over the years they have made very good choices. if its my money any toy will do and they tend to not treat it well, if its there money they tend to treat it better and make better choices. but my money pays for treats and meals.
with my food list this trip, I hope 100.00 a day will be enough :lmao:

My son is 8. He has a chore chart to work towards earning money for the trip so he will have some of his own spending money... Since we are driving down from Oregon, I am bringing along a lot of snack items that we can take into the parks with us...and I think being there for 6 days will help make us feel like we can take our time and try things that we truly want, rather than feeling rushed to not miss anything.

I have to say, it depends so very much on what you want to do and how old your DS is. DD and I can do DLR really cheap if we want. If it's just she and I, we can get by with spending about $40 a day. That's with getting me an adult meal, her a kid's meal and her mickey ice cream bar for one meal only and then McD's outside the park for the other. That doesn't leave any money really left over for many other extras. I will typically get a dill pickle or pineapple or something. No souvies.
However, if you do a sit down meal, you'll spend close to that just on one adult meal once you add tax and tip. For a recent ladies trip, we ate at Tortilla Jo's. I had a meal and one drink and it was $32 for just me. If you want to eat a character meal, figure close to $50 for one adult and one child (and that's if the child is 9 or under).
For longer trips, of a few days or more, for two to three meals a day, I'd generally plan on about $100 a day, understanding that depending on what you do you'll have some higher days and some lower days, but it should even out for you.

If you're driving, it will help in a few ways. One, you can bring breakfast items, which I really think is a huge cost saver. Maybe planning on eating one or two breakfasts out or at the parks/character meals as a splurge, but eating mostly at the hotel room. Also, if you want, you can eat off site here and there (and with 6 days, I'd recommend it anyway). There are some really inexpensive areas right next to DLR, like Mimi's and Millies, that give you a large amount of food for the money. Also, if you run out of items, you can go down to Target and get replacements instead of having to pay the cost of the more expensive gift shops.

your driving, thats makes all the difference in the world. we fly, and there for can not bring much. and I can not get to a store so thats why we spend what we do. you got it made! bring lunch meats and breads, snacks and milk and juice, yep all the difference. if your staying at a motel with a fridge then you can tore is safely.Last time I went to WDW I had grocery's delivered.
Have a wonderful trip :)

Our hotel has a continental breakfast, and our room has a fridge and microwave, so I plan on bringing cereal, microwave popcorn, chips, etc... I also am going to bring several cases of bottled water, so we don't have to buy them in the parks.... Thanks for all the tips and suggestions. So far we have PS for a lunch at blue bayou,a lunch at carnation cafe, and a dinner at goofy's kitchen. I think we are also going to do the Celebration Roundup and BBQ too- so those days we know will cost more...I think the rest of the time will be counter service or carts, or we may go off site like some of you suggested...This is my first vacation in 14 years, so I am not afraid to spend a little and have fun- but i am a bargain hunter at heart, and like to save $ where i can....

Im having bottled water delivered to our room to, and some chips and fruit. It will save me money on water and snacks.

We do grocery delivery... bottled water, peanut butter, jam and bread, pre-sliced fruit, cheese sticks, snack sized chips, yogurt, bananas. So, lunch is the meal we are going to do ourselves, plus our own snacks (my grocery tab is $100 for 6 days--which includes plastic silverware, paper plates and ziploc baggies!) Its how we save $$.

So, breakfasts are either character meals (we are doing 2, and they are pre-paid, which makes it seem like we are spending less $$) or white water snacks breakfast. And dinners are again, either prepaid character meals (we are doing the Princess dinner & BBQ Roundup) or lower-cost dinners (Carnation Cafe, Rancho del Zocalo & Farmer's Market is in the plan right now.) So, other than the character meal days, we are planning on about $60 a day in food. And we don't buy souvies until the last day. DD will get 1 thing that is less than $20 and I will hopefully find a Christmas ornament that I like. That's it.

We went to WDW and spent about $100 per day. Some days were more and some were less. The total we spent for food, souveniers, etc... was about $750 for a 7 night trip. ($150 was for Cinderella's Royal table which was paid for severals weeks before the trip.)

For our DLR trip this summer, I am budgeting for the character meals as a separate category and then I am budgeting for $100 per day in addition to that. We are driving and I am giving us $100 for those days too and we shouldn't spend nearly that much. I am hoping to have a little "surplus" at DLR!

This is for a family of 4.

I hate to feel like we are cutting it too close so I tend to over-budget. We don't just throw money away either so I think that it is likely that we won't spend our entire budget.

if things go as i want we are budgeting 60 a day for three of us. (3 full days 1 half)

we are also doing the delivery, soda (Pepsi)water. some lunch or dinner things.

we are doing one lunch at rain forest cafe, CB at AG, an Chip an dales. We will order pizza (im a pizza girl, give me a choice ill take it) we order the first night we get in an it lasts till we leave for midnight snack or quick breakfast for me hehehe

we also have 250 for stuff (200 for dl 50 for my sons Lego trip. he has bough Legos each time this time we just decided to budget it (plus ill get 70 for bday card)
