Just wondered if the 'Avengers' characters would be at Universal next year, as the film has been doing very well at the box office. Anyone heard anything?
Probably not but who knows. I think the characters are included in the Marvel contract as part of a "family" but not sure if Universal would fool with those characters. But...you never know.Just wondered if the 'Avengers' characters would be at Universal next year, as the film has been doing very well at the box office. Anyone heard anything?
No way since Disney owns the rights and made the movie. Avengers merch is a plenty at Disney right now. I am sure you saw pics of the Avengers monorail that is currently running as well.
Cap America shows up at Universal with X-Men and Spiderman currently. I think that is the only member you will see.
As I understand it, Universal's contract with Marvel (which pre-dates Disney's acquisition) allows Universal to continue to use Marvel characters in attractions, restaurants, and M&Gs at least. These characters include any and all within the "Avengers" group.
As for the Avengerrail, you'll note that it does not run on the Epcot loop like the Tronorail did. This is believed to be because Disney cannot contractually operate an Avenger's attraction (which one could define the monorail as) inside any of their theme parks. The Epcot loop runs within Epcot, while the Express and Resort loops around Seven Seas Lagoon do not pass within Magic Kingdom.
My understanding also is that merch is not part of this deal, and why you see Marvel merch at Disney.
Wow. Good info to know. I know Cap has always been part of the show when the characters show up, I have not seen any of the others. I wonder if IOA could use the characters, but NOT as they appeared in the movie (being that was a Disney production).

We noticed the Avenger monorail was used circling the Magic Kingdom instead of the EPCOT line like Tron had been. One of the cast members running the monorail gate told us that the Avenger one could not be used where outside traffic could see it. There's a long length of the EPCOT rail that can be seen from the roadways outside and that's apparently not allowed in whatever contract agreement they have for it. It was not on any of the tracks when we were over there last week. We used to see Tron everytime. As I understand it, Universal's contract with Marvel (which pre-dates Disney's acquisition) allows Universal to continue to use Marvel characters in attractions, restaurants, and M&Gs at least. It's very odd to now see Marvel merchandise now in the Disney Store.
