Avengers Campus Superthread – Opening June 4, 2021!

Can we talk about the Avengers Campus splash image on the front page of the DL website? It's a family of four (maskless!) and NOT ONE OF THEM looks happy to be there. Daughter looks ticked off, son looks disappointed, mom looks bored, and dad looks bemused, at best. I think they could have done better!

lol, I took it as they are trying to look serious as if they are about to join the avengers in battle. But I see what you mean also.

Our experience today was that we weren’t able to get WS at 7am but were able to at noon with the pull down method. At 7am my screen just spun and my husband’s got a technical error. We were on fast internet and had practiced before with success some of the time. There are no guarantees no matter what you do. At noon we got boarding group 122 which got called at 4:45pm. Even with a boarding group the wait was still 45 minutes. The ride was fun! My 2 year old couldn’t figure of the web slinging but my 8 year old and husband loved it.

New times for Pym’s (both food and drink) came available at 10:15am, 1:15pm and 4:15pm, so try checking at those times. At 1:15 there were time slots up until 5pm available. At 4:15 I got a 5:50pm time slot. Surprisingly Terran treats had no line at all around 6:30pm. Around 6:30 they also had Ant Man, Thor and Iron Man out at the same time so that was fun. You can see the Spider man show from outside the land where the main entrance is, and the times of the show are on the app.

Thurs, We were successful getting BG 30 @ 7am from our springhill suites hotel rm (iphone 8, non wifi, all data)..got called @ 10:30a & we amazingly spent 4hrs at the campus. Ordered pyms lunch while in line for WS for 11:45a pickup & drinks @ tasting lab for 12:15p pickup so overall we were lucky w/timing of everything. Sis went on GoG solo since that’s the only way u can ride once in campus. We noticed the algorithm is if u dont get 7a BG, you will MOST likely get 12noon BG (we saw it happens to us & my cousin’s fam).I highly doubt disney won’t get u a chance to ride WS unless U completely missed the 12noon mark—i can’t believe the poor schlubs standby wait for hrs. It’s not a hard algorithm to figure out (unless the ride breaks down throughout the day..thats the only way ur BG doesn’t get called as it happened to us on RotR)

OMG, they look utterly miserable thats what I would expect a family to look like back in March when they went to DTD and realized the parks were still closed

I think they give out a lot of boarding groups at noon, but some don’t get called. I talked to a family with a high number back up boarding group and I doubt they ever got in since the boarding groups seemed to be going slowly yesterday. That stand by line does not seem worth it, and much of it is in direct sunlight.

We got backup boarding group 145 for WS last Monday (after no luck at 7am) and were notified around 5:45pm that our BG would not be called. I do not think there is a secret algorithm that grants boarding groups at noon to those who didn't get them at 7am. However, the folks who did get them at 7am are now "out of the pool" (though guests with PH starting at the other park are added to the pool). Still, I think that makes overall chances better at noon. On Tuesday we got ROTR at 7am and WS at noon. There are others here who have reported no luck at all and some who have the skills and get them every time.

As far as trashing "schlubs" who wait in the standby line... (which isn't even for the ride. It's just to enter AC with no access to WS) some people may either not have had luck with a BG, just want to check out the land or even just ride GOTG. On Monday afternoon when we had the BG fails we did end up waiting in the standby line to enter AC because DD loves Marvel and we just wanted to check it out. We knew we only had one more chance for a WS BG group and our luck hadn't been good so far so we decided to at least ensure we'd see everything else. We also wanted to be sure to see AC after dark. We ended up waiting about 1.5hrs to get in AC which was similar to what we waited for RSR. That said, it was cloudy that day. DD and I did talk about how exposed the line was and we weren't sure we would have waited in it if it had been sunny.

Unsuccessful practice at 7 today. I was super fast but it just kept loading again. I’m always successful at noon but never at 7. 7 is the really important one though because we’ll always try to get it on both WS and ROTR. I’m gonna practice at 12 for ROTR but I’m not giving up on getting WS at 7. Those who have consistently been successful at 7, what’s your trick?

Yes. And the wait to get in to AC is always super long but if you have a BG for WS you can skip the line to get in to AC

Yeah, it’s kind of the worst. I’m really hoping as social distancing requirements are relaxed and the land has been open a little longer there won’t be a line to get in anymore. We’ll be there July 23, 26, 27, 29, and 30 so hopefully it’s better by then, but if not my current plan is to successfully get a BG for WS each day and then just do GOTG like 5 times each time we’re over there. The wait times don’t look too bad for it at least!

I guess that's one good part, keeping that line short. So I really need BG pixie dust!! I'm going July 1 and 2, so not sure how much things will change by then!

Sorry to hear that. What method did you try? Tab or pull down? My sister is going to be at the parks tomorrow and I'm trying to provide her with updated info. I'd told her tab, but people seemed to have problems with getting the blue button to appear yesterday. My advice is to have her husband do one and she do the other, but she's not sure she can get her DH on board with a pre-7 am wakeup so it may just be her.

I've been trying everything. I have a new iPhone with 5G, so this time I tried data and tab. This morning it was wifi and tab. In both cases, the blue button wasn't there when the atomic clock said it should be, and I ended up pulling down to refresh anyway. It spun a bit and the blue button showed up, but by the time I got to select group (I'm practicing, not actually in parks) it was full, maybe 2 seconds later.

I'm kind of hoping that it's more to do with not having a reservation today. In that case, our tickets would already be automatically selected, so maybe it would speed things up. Hoping I can figure this out before I'm there on the 23rd.

Thanks for the info. I hope it’s due to practicIng, too. We were able to get WS on opening day using tab method. I did pull down but DH easily beat me with tab. Crossing my fingers for you!

My family members who aren’t coming aren’t too thrilled about the idea of getting up in the morning to help with boarding groups so I’m thinking I’ll bribe them by telling them I’ll buy them a chocolate frog at Universal if they’re ever able to get us on WS or ROTR. Or for days after Universal I’ll save them a churro or something lol

Another dis’er grabbed my web slingers for me. I got an already in the queue message when I got through and my ticket wasn’t pre selected. Group 52.
I grabbed group 94 for myself for rotr while in the pre show for web slingers.

Was able to catch 2 of the 5 shows today since we had times. And watched one of them 3 times since it lined up. My rotr group prevented me from seeing the other 2 I wanted to see.
