Avengers anywhere?

Hi Everyone,

I can't "search", so I'm sorry if this question has been asked recently.

Can anyone point me to all things Avengers that are available at Disney? My nephew is a big of fan of them (he's 4), but I haven't seen anything mentioned about them in my research. Anywhere to meet them? Anywhere to eat with them?

As far as I know, no. They are at Universal's Islands of Adventure though.

Universal currently owns the rights to use the characters (or more accurately, "rents" the rights), so Disney can't use them right now. I think there was some Avengers merchandise in one of the parks (HS, maybe?) but I'm not sure.

Your nephew would probably enjoy IoA, just for the themeing - my kids have been to it twice (my youngest was 5 on his first trip there). They enjoyed the meet and greets (Spider-Man, Cap, Storm, Dr. Doom, Cyclops, etc.) and there is a life-size Iron Man statue in one of the gift shops - that was the biggest hit of the day. Lots of pictures in front of it .

Although watch out for Green Goblin - he can be mean (made my 5 year old cry because he was wearing a Spider-Man shirt) and he wanders around the park - ran into us in a gift shop of all places.

Shoot. We were hoping because they are in a cartoon on Disney XD, they might be there.

I think when universal got super hero island, it was in the contract (probably not the right word but my mind has gone blank), that no other theme park within a one hundred mile radius is allowed to depict or showcase a character from Marvel.
Disney has 'The Avengers Monorail' which is normally on the TTC to MK monorail loop (not sure if The Avengers monorail is still there since I was last there in December), they can do this because the monorail doesn't go into the MK, it stops outside of it.
The Avengers Monorail could not go into EPCOT for example, as the monorail goes into the park.
Disney owns Marvel, but Universal Orlando has the distribution rights.
The same goes with the movies and why the likes of Spider-Man wasn't in the first Avengers movie, this is due to Sony owning the distribution rights to the character.

Pretty much sums it up, but its east of the Mississippi and Disney can use any character that US is not using now. But to the average super hero fan, US has all the "A Listers".

Also, just to complete the thought, there is no end to the contract so as long as US keeps the rides up and pays Disney, they get to keep them.
