Avatar not working? Showing??/ Confused

I haven't been on the Disboards in a while. I logged on today to find that I do not have an avatar. or it is a small image that I can't see. It wont let me upload a new one. this is driving me crazy please help.

Just making shooting some guesses out there:

• Is the picture that you are looking to upload a file type that is supported (.jpg, .jpeg, .png, and maybe .gif)?
• Is the picture you are trying to use a large size?
• Have you tried checking the "Delete Current Avatar" box while uploading the new picture?
• Will a different picture upload, or are you having problems uploading any kind of picture?

Just throwing stuff out there that have been issues that I've seen on other sites.

one of the pics did say too large....tried another and nothing
this is weird but this is making me feel stupid. I very computer savvy so why isn't the picture I originally had on here not work all of a sudden?

I was looking in the tech support subforum and it looks like they were unable to bring that feature over from the old boards. It appears to be user uploads only now.

There are no stock avatars on this site.

Well, just like the old boards, you can't delete a thread. Only a moderator can. Just stop posting on it and it will drop to the bottom of the board.

Also, to post pictures or avatars the picture must be on your computer and smaller than 1MB.

I don't get how to get your photo there either? I dragged & dropped mine to the avatar box, but it does nothing?

Are you trying to drag and drop it into the box right next to the post?

You need to hover over your username in the upper right and click on "Avatar". That's where you add it. Also the picture must less than 1MB in size.

I opened the avatar section on the upper right area in the Avatar section. But I guess I don't understand how to change a photo that is in my photos on my laptop to a 1MB in size? How do I do that?

I use Paint, but you can also do it with Windows Photo Viewer.

Well, I made it smaller in Paint & it still won't drag/drop & stay in the avatar update window. It allows me to drag it, but nothing happens after that & there is no "save" button.

What I did in the Avatar window was use the "upload new custom avatar" and browsed for the file. I didn't drag and drop.

Ah, geez - been away from these boards a few months & everything is changed....

The DISboards transitioned to new software in February. And yes, it does look and feel quite different... though now it's hard for me to remember the "old" way.

I would guess you had a stock avatar -- one that was available through DISboards when you created your account. Those are no longer an option. You may choose your own avatar from your own pics or searching for something available on the Internet.
