Avatar Land? When?

Navi River Journey is a boat ride presumably using a technology similar to pirates in Shanghai that goes through the bioluminescence of Pandora.
Ugh! Hope it's not Universal-type 3D screens. 3D doesn't work well for me.

I'd be interested to see which opens first if they don't open together. Both have had multiple permits for show set installation. I would've thought they both chugging along to open together.
My inference is that Flight of Passage is the one which may not be ready with the rest of the area. But my source was being a bit coy - there are limits to what (s)he can say, naturally - and I can't promise I was interpreting correctly.
The impression was also that if there is a delay in one of the attractions, it would be one that we'd measure in weeks rather than months.
If I were planning a trip for next summer, I'd be excited.

There were LOTS of folks excited for Rivers of Light this summer and up until the week before it was on go to open. Then with virtually no notice, oops we have a problem. I don't think anyone should book a trip around this land, you really can only depend on what is open. Even if Disney says something will happen, doesn't mean it will until it actually does.

Not saying it won't open fully or partially in the spring but we have no idea if it will open on time no matter what anyone says. ROL proved that, and other Disney in-house plans of late have not gone as planned. It's the new reality.

Other than RoL what else hasn't gone as planned?

I'm speaking only for myself. Not recommending for or against anyone else planning a trip.

My recollection was that RoL came up as a bit of surprise, so no one really booked around it opening. When it was delayed, lots of people were frustrated about the process.

I thought the new Frozen ride and meet'n'greet opened on time? Same with Soarin'? TSMM's 3 Track?

We will find out alot more when JC is on he parks for D23.....(same week I am going).

Anyone know if this affected the parks????

I still am not sure I understand Pandora as a concept.....if the next film flops its going be an interesting place. (not that JC makes flops).

Avatar is HUGE in the Orient....my guess is they want to get more Asian visitors here.....(even with Shanghai)

Pandora is one of those things people will change their reservations if they are just going to miss it.. If it's not opening in Q1, they will only say "opening in 2017". I do have to say it's really shaping up fast right now.. I thikn if disney wanted they could get it opened for Q1 but I will be surprised if they let universal open the new water theme park without something even bigger to say come to disney instead so I'm saying it'll be opened by may or in may.

I'm going in September, I'm planning 50/50 that it'll be open.

I'll only be upset if it opens the week after I leave :)

If it is delayed, it won't be because of construction, it will be glitches or unanticipated problems in the new technology and theming. That won't be known until they're much closer to completion.

If you're waiting for a firm opening date, I wouldn't hold your breath.
