Availability

I see there is a separate area that is supposed to show current availability in each of the DVCs for each month. I doesn't look like it gets regular updates?

I'm waiting to close and am chomping at the bit to be able to call MS for a room! Has anyone checked or know if there is much available for September or early December?

I'm dying down here!

I just called MS yesterday looking for a 2 bedroom Sept 23-26 - only OKW and SSR had a villa available for all 3 nights. I did not check any other size units.

The availability thread is updated regularly, but we here on the DisBoards have to provide the information. The information is strictly voluntary and sometimes people remember to post and other times they do not. So that means a lot of people that never heard of the DisBoards have not reported their inability to get a villa.

Keep in mind that the Availability Thread is not confirmation that a villa is or is not available, it is just an informational indication. To be sure whether a villa is available you really need to call MS to see if a reservation is available.

I have no idea what current availability is but just as an FYI - early December is quite possibly THE busiest time for DVC & most members make their reservtations as soon as the 11 month window opens.

I would expect you to have better luck with Sept than Dec.

I have to agree with you about December. Only pure luck would get you a reservation the first two weeks of December less than five months out. The OP might have better luck with September even though it's much closer, just because it is a less traveled month.

If you are closing on a resale, there is probably no hope for Dec. If you are closing on a direct Disney purchase, talk to your guide and see what he/she can do.

When I called at 6 1/2 months for the first week of December (11/30 - 12/5) there was hardly any availability at all. It was my mistake for not calling right at 7 months or even booking BLT (my home resort) at 11 months.

I got extremely lucky and got a standard view studio at Kidani for those dates. I'm going to call on Monday (for fun) to see if there are any 1BRs for those dates. I imagine there won't be anything.

Keith, your problem is that you are a Sox fan and not a Cubs fan.

Early december is probably a no go. I have a trip booked (starting on 12/15, called at 7 months) and I'm still on 2 waitlists for room categories that I really want. I call back once in a while and not much is available.

You might have better luck for Sept. When I called last week to switch our September ressie from AKV Kidani to AKV Jambo, I was able to do it and I was told that there was availability at other resorts.

It really depends on your dates, and how lucky you are when you call. Good luck!

MS on the 14th and they had my info. I booked for September and December. I got OKW which is my
home resort. I am really happy. My dates are 9-13-17-10 &12-13-17-10 in a studio. No problem.

I appreciate the info! I think the availability board is great, and I'm sure they are struggles with maintaining it as not ever DVC member is on here!

Last year we closed at the beginning of Oct. on BLT... eventhough there was no availablity at BLT for our dates in Dec.. (Dec 12-19) we were able to get OKW. (SSR also had availablity for our week.). You (to the OP) have a chance at getting something but it will probably not be your first choice. Good Luck! April

booked for 11/28 to 12/5 ssr, no aval. for bcv (1bed or std) or bwv at all for the whole week. blt no aval for week just some days split up nothing on 11/28 at all (1bed or std), akl had 2 nights std safari view on 11/30 and 12/1 nothing else. so off to ssr .

To Deb & Bill: Do not despair. They just don't understand being faithful to the sox. It is not a question of being a fan. We are the faithful. It is more of a religion around here. We held true for how many years till we won the series? There is nothing like it with any other baseball team so keep the faith. Sorry for being completley off topic.
