Just wondering if anyone has experience with availability at a non-home resort for Sept.....

My situation....we're planning a trip where we want to stay at resorts other than BWV using our BWV points in September....wanting 5 nights in an OKW 2br and then the weekend in a studio at either WL or BCV (or maybe SS, if it opens on schedule). The weekend we would have no problem with making a cash backup reservation in case we can't get in, but for the 2br we'll be taking family. A cash backup reservation isn't an option, but we'd rather not make a backup reservation at BWV because that would leave us with borrowed points that we would end up not using (ie. borrowed to make the reservation, but then not actually used).

I know they can sometime reallocate the borrowed points to the reservation to free up current points that can be banked....but last time I tried this I think it got messed up (or....hmmm....maybe I just forgot to bank them? No matter...it worked out, as we used them anyway)

So, do you think its taking too much of a chance with availability to wait to make this reservation at 7mo without a backup? Is September generally a very busy DVC time due to the low points?

This is 2004 I'm looking at....so I'm not in any hurry, but it does effect my planning for my 2003 trip.

FWIW, I don't think you will have a problem getting a 2 bedroom at OKW for September at the 7 month window. OKW has a lot of 2 bedroom units and IMHO, September is not one of the more popular times for DVC members to visit WDW. Even if all the days are not available right when you call, I'd be shocked if the wait list did not come through for you in a short period of time.

Weekends on points are always easier to book than weekdays, so I don't think it will be all that hard to get the September weekend stay at VWL or BCV, either. Personally, I wouldn't bother with making a cash back up ressie for the weekend unless I got a super rate and didn't want to use points for the weekend. Since the points to stay at VWl and BCV are the same as BWV preferred, you could make your back up weekend ressie at the BWV and not worry about losing points.

Good luck and happy planning!
