Has anyone recently been able to book a cruise with points? I haven't been over here in a while and we are thinking of Alaska in August on points. Before I get too far I thought I'd see if there was even any cruising availability for points. Last fall things were pretty slim unless you were booking way out.

TIA

HI princess: You can use points for cruises but IMO the amount needed is WAY to HIGH :rotfl2: I would definitely save up Disney Visa rewards points or pay for the cruise & save your points for other WDW vacations. Hope this helps! Happy Cruising! :cheer2:

When we called in May 2011 to book for Nov 2012, MS was booking really far out only for the Dream and the Fantasy (nothing avail thru Oct 2012). The Wonder & Magic generally had good availability.

My parents booked Alaska on the Wonder last year on points in Jan 2011 for Jun 2011, and availability was sailing specific. I think you'll just have to call up and ask about your specific sailing date.

I was able to book this January for December cruise on the Fantasy. Only problem I had was not getting the room & deck I wanted. Looking forward to cruisin on the Fantasy this year!

There are reports that DCL cash bookings are up and ahead of forecasts so DVC availability may be difficult.

Two weeks ago I booked cat 5C to Alaska for Aug 20 sailing using part points, part cash. I think it depends on the date and the category you want.

I called Sunday to find out about Fanstasy or Dream and they said they had nothing until October

I would try to avoid October, you really arent going to know what weather you will get, that is at the end of hurricane season and rainy season. you will either get nice weather or really crappy rainy weather in the tropics.

We have cruised twice during this month with the last being this past october and it rained most of our trip, needless to say we will not be booking anymore october cruises. Btw, there is a reason why the points are low during this time.

We actually called inquiring about the late August sailings. Right now we have 2 weeks planned at AKV/BLT but I was thinking of switching it up a bit and taking the 4 or 5 nighter and then the rest at DVC. No luck for me I guess :)

We would be looking for the Wonder in Alaska, so I'll have to give them a call and see what is available for points. I know the Dream and Fantasy only have availability pretty far out. The same was true for the Dream last year. We booked three cruises on the Dream with points, but did so as soon as booking was opened.

We just booked a family veranda and a regular veranda room for March 2013. The use of points was good for us. I used 1165 points ans the cruise would have cost over $12,000. MS was great, she grabbed the cabins first and held them then did all the banking points to cover the cost. The only cash needed was the travel insurance and the $95 fee.

Good luck,
