Hi All

Has anyone bought oneof these AV senders ? I am fitting a telly in the kitchen and were going to plug one in back of sky box and the receiver in new telly. It transmitts sky to the telly without wires (about £35) and you can change channel from that telly or the source. Sorry I know its a bloke thing.

Just wondered before I got one

Thanks

Steve

I've used a cheap one in the past and they're ok, but not fantastic.

Wireless networks (computers / gameboys etc) and even more so microwaves used to mess the signal up completely, but that may not be the case with a more expensive one.

Never seen one in operation, so would be interested to hear how you get on. Guess a lot may depend on what size TV your receiving the signal on as to how noticeable any signal issues are.

We got one from Argos for about £20. Had the odd problem with interference but its 99% ok - esp. for that price.

Not sure if more expensive ones will be any better - i think they use the same insides.

Thanks all. I suppose as long as it give a reasonable picture, the amount of time it will be on you can live with it.

The 'better' one I have seen is about £45 and is supposed to be quite good.

Thanks all

Steve

I bought one of these about 6 months ago to send the signal from my tv in the bedroom (multi- room) into my daughters tv in her bedroom and so far so good, great picture, easy to use, no issues.:thumbsup2

I have had these for several years, I think ours are AEI Digisenders which we bought from Argos. The good thing buying from Argos is that if you did have a problem you can take them back okay.

The majority of the ones on the market today work within the 2.4 GHz bandwidth which are also used by the XBox 360, PS3, cordless phones and wireless routers.

Ours only suffered from interference when someone was moving around the house and getting in the way of the signal. However, once the Xbox 360 came into the house it caused scrolling picture interference. The only way to rectify this was to completely unplug the Xbox 360 or only use it when someone wasn't wanting to use the Xbox.

I have read that there are newer ones either coming to the market or could be on the market now that run on a higher GHz which I would presume would stop any interference from existing equipment.

The picture quality is excellent. Mine is attached via a piggy back scart connector to the tv output on Sky, the normal scart connector to tv is also connected here. Then you have a little receiver box that you put near the other tv with another Sky remote. We could also buy other receivers separately at about £45 at the time which is a few years ago. There are a lot easier than hard wiring with co axial cable right round the house from a booster box in the lounge. We initially used ours to gain access to Sky in the bedrooms and kitchen.

I personally think they are a good little gadget to have without going to the expense of another Sky box in another room. Hope that helps. AVforums and Digitalspy are good forums to pick up info about these sort of things too.

We have had these for a few years, lately though our bluetooth items etc have interfered with the signal, just opted for sky multi room :)

I had one, it cost me £99 from maplin. After 1 week it went back. To say the pitcher was bad in an understatement. After that I just run a length of cat5 (computer cable) and used that, grate pitch all of the time.

Hi All

Sender update:

I got one from Maplins (the electrical outlet, not holiday camp!!!)

£39.99. Plugged it in to our multi room box upstairs and the receiver in't kitchen (Toshiba 19" £199 from Empire Direct). And it works a treat, really pleased, just need an extra sky remote tho now.

Thanks for all advice

Great Steve, and a bargain too:thumbsup2
Thanks for the update.

Thanks to Wicket too - we were thinking of getting one but we have a few xbox's (as media players) so that's food for thought:thumbsup2

I am pleased you are all sorted Steve.

You definitely get interference to the AVI Digisenders we have from the XBox 360 but if you simply unplug it from the wall they are fine (other than if someone is walking close to it).
