Autotrain question

okay so i have a question about the autotrain. I have looked at the website and didn't get answer for my question.

Here is my question: Is there a weight limit when it comes to the vehicles?

The reason i am asking is because me and my husband may be moving to Florida within the next year and a half. If we do move we will have two vehicles with all our stuff in it. (the small stuff, we would start fresh down there as in getting furniture and stuff) But we are considering the autotrain because of the 2 vehicles and both of us don't do very well driving long distant alone.

I know that this is something random to discuss or ask on this board for the reason, but if someone can help me i would appreciate it.

Thanks

We frequent the Auto Train for our trips to WDW. I have seen a large mix of vehicles getting loaded on the train. Many that appear to be loaded utility vehicles. They have never weighed our vehicle before they load it. I don't think they have the equipment to dit it if they needed to. When you pull in they video your vehicle and load it immedately after you get out. The only restrictions I know of are height/length restrictions which are outlined on the website. Hope that helps some.

They do not weigh the vehicles. You can load as much as you can get into it and still drive it. You aren't the first to move using it. Also, college students and snowbirds do it regularly and load up all their stuff too. You might try the autotrain thread here: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=402667

there is also a minimum clearance for the bottom of the vehicle. 4 inches as I recall. In all probability you won't come close but if you have a low slung car - or a lowered one - and you load it up you could have an issue if you really load it up with stuff.

The concern is a very low vehicle, especially one with significant overhang front or rear, can get hung up on the ramps.

I had this issue ... I was OK when the car was just sitting there but then they measured for clearance when I was still IN the car and in that case I was low. They just had me sign a waiver but my car has zero overhang issues so it wasn't a concern for me ..
